I have been experiencing this issue for many months like others. It occurs on v2, v3, and v3 Pro for me. It does NOT occur on my WCO cameras (v1 & v2) FWIW. So far I have not observed skipping on the OG cams, but have only just started testing those.
I have Cam Plus Unlimited.
The only fix I have found is a full power cycle and that only worked for my v3 Pro cameras. All the others still have the issue.
Just my 2 cents. I feel everyone’s pain. This makes the recording and notification features almost worthless.
I recently upgraded my home network to a Ubiquiti system. I hate to admit that some of their camera/protect products may be in my future.
Sorry Wyze.
got the firmware 4.36.10.4054 today, fingers crossed
I hear you, sir! In my case, I have 6 cams that run on the “UNLIMITED” package. The cams that I have are the v2 (2), the Pan v2 (2) now upgraded to the v3… don’t ask me why… the OG “package”, and a single Outdoor v1. Now then… I NEVER, EVER had ANY trouble until that “update” from Wyze a few months ago, apparently when all HECK broke loose. Recordings were laggy, cams resetting/offline, missing video, etc. However, the new firmware update has helped a great deal for me, but I am having a bit of trouble with one of my PanCams, as it doesn’t seem to want to record anything. I is up and running, and I know that the sensor distance is only what, 25 feet, give or take? Still, the OTHER one works just fine. The OG’s however, work FLAWLESSLY, as does the Cam v2. The Outdoor cam works as well, and I am surprised at the battery life, as it is showing 98% after being up and running continuously for a WEEK now, so I am impressed!!
Overall, I am slightly disheartened at my failing PanCam v3, but maybe I just got a lemon. I will to continue to use this system as long as it doesn’t TOTALLY fail me. I understand that there will be the occasional firmware updates and such, but I just wish that WYZE would let it’s customers know what’s going on with THEIR end, and not have us customers racking our brains trying to figure out weather or not it might be on OUR end (modems, routers, phones, tablets, etc.)? THAT is the biggest problem that I have with ALL of this!
… 'nuff said!
latest update for me end of march i believe seems to have fixed my 5 second pause in playback. all my v3 are cured. dont know about pan cam v1 i dont use it and dont have plus on it.
I have the same issue! Playback clip’s frozen in many ways? Why some many complaints about this and still no fixes? What am I paying for monthly? Where are your tech support?
Mine resolved itself after latest update. No more freezing. Thanks Wyze!
I am having this issue as well. Curiously i noticed a few posts more than usual imo mention sd cards how many of you use them io in all 8 cameras I removed them from a v2, a v1 pan, a v3 and a v2 pan for testing it def seems better over short hour test period so far. I also used a v2 and disabled any recording settings to the cloud i guess and only enabled all day recording to sd. Im curious how wyze (all camera brands really) handle video to the cloud if ai is detecting motion events on a serve does that mean that my cameras are broadcasting even when not triggered for motion. If the actual triggering is being done on a server and not on the actual device is it eating all my upload bandwidth which is significantly smaller than download like 400 down and 20 up which is the case for all cable companies i know of. So is this caused by hardware in the camera that is to slow to record to sd and to broadcast to cloud. or a bottle neck in my upload speeds. Does disabling any recordings other than to sd card stop the broadcast of its stream. doubt it because live streaming is a thing. So many questions
The way I fixed mine is to set your camera to reset every day, maybe at like 4am, that fixed all the freezing issues I had.
I had the same issue with recorded video lagging. Turns out mine wasnt the camera, it was the base station. I unplugged it for 10-15 seconds then plugged it back in and recorded video doesnt seem to have the 3-4 second lag anymore…for now at least.
Update: video is skipping again. Not even one day after resetting everything and its back to glitching when recording events
Had a great video and it freezes for about 2-3 seconds right where I needed to see actual movement! What the heck?!?
If your useing micro sd card you can view it on the card and record it and save it to your device…i do alot that way…
Update: I got tired of the freeze issues when recording events and decided to hardwire the camera (I have the wireless v2 outdoor cam and was operating it on batter power) so I could set it to record continuously. I"ll spare you the details of all my tests, but what ive found is that with a hard wired power supply there is no more freeze when recording…no mater how its set to record.
Kind of sucks considering its supposed to work the same on battery as it does hard wired and seems definitely like something Wyze needs to look into.
Anyways, just what worked for me…may be worth trying if you have your cam operating on battery power vs hard wired.
I have 8 of them and my play back works just fine,at my neighbors house we have version 1,andv2 there and had no issues on playback
I have the same issue on my v2 outdoor cams. Video pauses with static for 6 seconds then continues… I have a support ticket open and hoping they have a fix.
yeah good luck with the support ticket I posted this issue like 5 or 6 months ago and they’ve done virtually nothing but they like to take your money for camplus… always coming out with new products but it failed to fix the old products issues
We’re going on 2 years with this freezing video glitch and no Wyze fixes or support of any kind. Please share your experience by leaving an Amazon review, so others dont waste their money on these cameras.
I agree my old cameras worked better! Also the audio sucks.
I had that issue and this is what fixed my camera’s from freezing.
If you set up your cameras to reboot every morning, lets say 4am, that fixed my cameras from having the freezing glitch. Give it a try and see if that helps.
Click on the camera, then go to the cog wheel/ automations/ schedules / then set up under DO restart camera to every day and pick a certain time.
Once I did this all the freezing issues went away
Going to try this, I have set it up and will report back with updates. Was thinking about getting a V$ camera due to this freeze issue.
