Video Doorbell V1 and Doorbell Chime Controller

My son-in-law gave me the kit he had installed at his house when he upgraded

The searches I’ve done seem to say that the Chime Controller is not compatible with the V1 Video Doorbell, so I’m not sure why he included that part.

It does not, and I bet he gave you his extra parts (controller) when he installed his, I am assuming it’s a v2 doorbell?

The V1 doorbell does not use the legacy chime at all. When you install the fuse wire(if you had it), that process bypasses the chime and provides straight power to the doorbell location where you would install the V1 doorbell. The V1 doorbell uses the chime accessory that plugs into a nearby outlet to “chime” the house.
