Hi there. Wondering if any one else is having problems with the v3 cameras dying. So far in the last 3 week, I’ve had 3 cameras die. I’ve tried using different cables and power supplies but nothing…no light and will not restore to factory defaults at all. Just seems kind of weird that they are all dying like this .. one right after another.
Hey DeeJay
How many do you have and did you but them all at once or in batches. A while back in fix-it-friday people were trying to correlate anomalies only some v3s were experiencing with different manufacturing runs of the cams: the source of some internal hardware components changed, IIRC.
I think they were using MAC address ranges of the cams to determine different runs.
No new V3 deaths in the family, but I lost over half to the lens fogging issue…
Even with the fog they still work except 2 that died completely almost a year ago
Hi peepeep. I have 10 - had 10 altogether. Most were bought either by themselves or in pairs and that was over a 2 year period. The 3 that died were bought at different times. Not sure if it makes a difference but I bought some through Amazon and the rest through Wyze.
I have two v3 pros and a v3 that I have purchased at various times and all have stopped working this afternoon. I unplugged them and plugged them back in, which usually does the trick, but not in this case. I have some other older types that are working fine. Is there some kind of software glitch?
I had 2 of my 3 Wyze Cam OGs die on me 2 weeks ago. The two that died were attached their own Wyze included power supply (No lights, no sound and Setup button is unresponsive). The one that is still alive was connected to an Alcatel 5W 1A power adapter. This indicates to me that the included Wyze Power supplies are of low quality and lack any form of power filtration and protection, thus passes on all impurities to the connected camera whenever they envitably occur.
Yeah that’s so funny that you said that because it is happening to me and some of my friends. They are so upset because Wyze has a fix for this it’s a replacement part kit that you have to purchase. Really Wyze you really know how to treat your customers, getting a little to greedy now not like when you first started and made so many promises. Time to find a new camera!!
I had 10 Cam v2s dating back to 2018 none of which I could kill even mounted outdoors under eaves without enclosures (they aren’t outdoor rated cams.) Two got wet internally, dried out and fired up.
Then v3s
Bought 2 in Jul 2023 – Installed Dec 2023
Bought 6 in May 2024 – Installed Dec 2024
Only one (installed Dec 2024) is fully exposed to sun, rain and wind; the others are under eaves or similar. I live in a temperate climate, more sun than rain.
All good, so far. ![]()
Can only speak to the v3. Nothing that would stop them working, that I know of.
Hi guppiegal2, any more info on this? ![]()
I finally rebooted my modem and they came back right away.
Posting for general information.

in the thread a few posts down. ![]()
Are all your “Other Brand” IOT devices working fine, is it only the Wyze cams having an issue?

Not bad. ![]()
I learned long ago when a power cord went bad that Wyze doesn’t care once you purchase. They don’t even stock a replacement cord for that cam. I checked and it worked with another power cord so it isn’t the camera. I’ll never buy another Wyze product. Ever.
