V3 Camera Not Recording Motion

Now one of my V3 cameras when set to record all motion doesn’t record it, this mostly happens at night. When I use the app to watch through the camera I can see a deer walking buy and the motion box follows the deer, yet nothing is recorded as if Smart Detection Events was selected yet it’s not, I have All Events selected. I’ve restarted the camera a few times via the app and that fixed things for a bit but then the issue comes right back. Any one else experience this?

In your v3 Event Recording page, do your settings look like this? If not give it a try as my v3 cameras with Detection Sensitivity set at 90 record anything that moves.

I know how to set the camera to record motion with all events, so yes mine is set like yours. Plus, my motion sensitivity is set to 100. But it seems to have no problem recording motion during the day yet at night it doesn’t, even though the motion tagging box follows something moving.

Are you running the latest v3 firmware 4.36.17.10 (August 11, 2026)? If so, I advise rolling back as the latest firmware release is proving to be a big steamy pile of :poop:. Unfortunately you won’t be able to roll back to the previous version, they are forcing everyone to roll back to a March release.

Wyze Cam v3

To firmware flash your Wyze Cam v3:

  1. Insert your microSD card into the computer and ensure it does not have any other files on it.
  2. Download the desired version of firmware from the Release Notes & Firmware page.
  3. Unzip/open the .zip file.
  4. Ensure the unzipped folder is named “demo_wcv3.bin”.
    • If not, rename it.
  5. Drag the file to the root directory of the microSD card and then remove the card from the computer.
  6. Power off the camera by unplugging it from the wall.
  7. Insert the microSD card into Wyze Cam v3, then press and hold the setup button on the camera while plugging the camera back into the wall. Be sure to keep holding the setup button for 3-6 seconds before releasing it.
    • The camera will automatically begin the firmware flash process. This may take up to 5 minutes to complete.
    • The status light will appear solid purple as both the red and blue lights will be on at the same time.
  8. Once the flash is complete, the status light will become solid blue and the camera will reboot itself.
    • If the camera was already set up in the Wyze app, it should automatically reconnect.
    • If the camera was not set up in the Wyze app, walk through setting it up like new.
  9. Remove the microSD card from the camera before continuing use.
    • If the card remains inserted, the camera will attempt to firmware flash every time it reboots.
  10. To continue using the microSD card, reinsert it into the computer and remove the “demo_wcv3.bin” file before reinserting it into the camera.

All my v3 cameras are on firmware 4.36.17.10 and App version 3.19.0 (17) and working fine.

I do have Auto Updates Off and will manually update each v3 firmware one v3 at a time if that is a factor.

Yes, I have the latest firmware on the camera but I have no interest in rolling it back because every update might fix on thing but breaks others, this is a consistent thing with Wyze. Plus, I always do manual updates and I don’t use SD cards in any of my cameras, nor do I want to.

This thread details the issue some are having with their v3’s. WYZE likely has multiple hardware versions of the v3. This would explain why some do not have the issue but others do.

I doubt there was different internal hardware of the v3, but there were different variations of the v3.

I would advise reading this thread. It should remove all doubt from your mind.

Well, isn’t that something. But not sure how that explains the issue I’m having with my v3. I say this because it never had this problem in the past, it started rather recently so I believe once again it’s their firmware upgrades that screwed with something.

Yup, it’s quite likely the crummy firmware that I mentioned.

I have the same issue. My V3, pointing to the front driveway, had been working as expected. Nothing changed except recent firmware updates. Today an older V2 deeper in the property correctly detected and recorded a person entering who had to have walked right through the V3 detection zone - yet the V3 didnt detect, record or notify me of anything. Nothing on its SD card either. I checked the settings and they were all as should be (sensitivity was at 75). Something appears wrong with this latest firmware..
