Neither are detecting/saving motion events. I am expecting just a still image and notification, because I am not subscribed. But, neither are working at all. Tried factory resetting both with no luck.
I also have a v4, on the same wifi network, and it works exactly as expected. Still image/notification for motion.
What am I missing??
These were both working fine about a month ago, I’ve just re-added them after moving to a new home. Can’t make sense of it.
One new observation. When I go to Settings > Event Recording, the “Motion” setting is toggled off. If I toggle it on, it just flips back to off when I visit the menu again.
No events in the app at all or no notifications (or both)?
Do you have a detection zone set, and have you checked all your detection settings?
You can try the “reset services” option - typically that’s only for subscribers but I’ve seen where people have said it has fixed other glitches. It also seems to reset the detection/notification settings.
All else fails, delete the camera in the app. That should factory reset the cam too, but if not, do that manually. Then re-add the cam but use a slightly different name to ensure none of the old settings are imported. See if that helps.
What do you mean by the app forces it off? Do you have an SD card?
If you have no subscription or SD card then I would not expect it to be able to record any events. Honestly I’m not sure if it will give you a still frame or not in that case, I’m guessing probably not.
The app toggles the setting back off automatically.
Yes, SD card installed and working. I can scroll backwards through days of footage. Just no event icons, notifications, or thumbnails on v3 cams.
This feature works correctly on my v4 cams, and worked correctly on my v3 cams previously. It is a feature that is supported without subscription, the app UI itself says so.
I would try clearing app cache in the app and in your OS settings under the app’s storage. Maybe reboot the cam too. All else fails, delete it and re-add it. I’ve never seen the SD card shut off on its own, but I don’t have any v3s.
You might login to the Wyze web site and check -“ Account - My Services” to make sure your cameras are still linked to your account (even without a subscription).
Both my Wyze v3 cams (non-pro) stopped detecting motion and sending thumbnails. They record continuously to SD.
I deleted both cameras from the app and factory reset them. On the latest app/firmware, not beta program.
The seem to capture motion now, so I am gettijg somewhere – but the images are just placeholders, and I don’t get any notification. If I select any of the thumbnails, nothing loads, it’s just blank/black. What’s going on??
Have a v4 cam as well that has no issues - thumbnails working, notifications sending. Just both v3 cams.

When you reset a cam, you should follow up with 3 things… 1. check to see if you have the latest firmware loaded on your cam and 2. check to see if your cam is still assigned to your premium service/subscription and 3. go through the cam settings in the Wyze app and make sure your settings are still as you had them set before you did a reset.
If all 3 of those items look good, go into your cam’s settings, scroll down to the bottom and hit the Reset Services button.
Ah what the heck. I toyed with RSTP like 4 years, I didn’t think it would freeze my firmware. Yes I know how to flash, so I should just flash to the latest version from Wyze’s website?
It’s odd that the app tells me the firmware is up to date.
