Using Wyze on my PC

Use Reolink cameras. None of that nonsense there

Do Wyze users troll the Reolink forums too? Just curious.

Took the words out of my mouth. I freaking hate trolls. I know for a fact, I’m not a Wyze fan boy, but I give them credit where credit is due, and vice versa.

Kinda technical/geeky: wyze-bridge docker app. This is not a Wyze solution, but uses the wyze api which you activate a personal certificate/key. See the wyze-bridge github page: GitHub - mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge: WebRTC/RTSP/RTMP/LL-HLS bridge for Wyze cams in a docker container . I run this on a Raspberry Pi 4B. I can connect to the web server from a browser on my network to view live video feeds from all cams. The wyze-bridge app is very efficient, and I am using the wyze-bridge built in mediamtx record option for 24/7 recording 4 or 5 cams to a NAS. This allows easy access to HD feeds assuming I know the cam and time to seek. I continuous record/store last 10 days 4 cams which uses almost 500GB on the NAS.

For most things Wyze, I use the phone or tablet app which works well, v3 is an improvement IMO nice job Wyze!! It is situations where I need easy access (= .mp4 files) to recorded video I want to review in detail or archive, I goto my NAS recordings. My cams record ‘motion events’ rather than continuous to the local SD…this allows very easy searching of the local 1 minute recorded motion/sound events on cam playback on wyze app…I identify the cam(s) and date/time from the playback clips, then can view full video on NAS (for past 10 days as I configured my wyze-bridge).

friends I can’t depend on my security with WYZE cameras. Because the in consistent live feed and freeze when some one steps in frame is just not working to provide serious security. I’ve had better luck with baby monitors.

If that is what you really need spend serious $$$.

That’s an indication of a congested WiFi.

As I have said many times, for a serious security cameras, it must be wired, with local recording, and extended backup power.

I have that at home, but for a quick look at stuff remotely, the Wyze is generally easier.

Regardless of what Wyze and the other companies want you to think, there is no such thing as “serious security” with a $30 wifi cloud cam.

“Better than nothing security” is about where it is at.
