Upload a “short” video to the cloud? Automation question

Greetings! I think I know the answer to this already but I figured I’d ask anyway.

I have a battery cam pro at my gate. I have another closer to the house but it’s too far to be triggered by activity as far down the driveway as I’d like. I thought I might resolve this using an automation that “uploads a short video to the cloud” from the house camera whenever the gate camera detects motion. It seems like short=12 seconds. Is it possible to adjust the duration at all? I have cam unlimited.

If there’s a better way to do this I’m open to suggestions. I do have an SD card in the house cam and it is recording 24/7 so I can go look for the footage but it’s a little clumsy for my liking.

Thanks in advance!

12 seconds is the limit, and from what I’ve found that automation action is a bit clumsy and unreliable, it can conflict with the normal event detection of the cam and have unpredictable results.

If the cam is far enough away that it can’t detect motion, how useful is the video it records anyway?

I don’t know about the usefulness, it depends on what happens, I’m not looking for fine detail though, but trying to cover a large area.

If the automation/12 second clip isn’t enough you could try cranking the sensitivity all the way up to 100 but that may have other implications. Of course you can do what I do, when there is an event on one cam that I want another view of, I just note the time and then look at that time on my other cams with 24x7 SD recording. Not elegant but works fine. I basically use one of my cams as my main event/notification trigger and the others just serve as other angles which I pull as needed
