Update from Dave on Smart home

4 years ago, Dave had a short YouTube video on automation in his home, including Security.

I wonder if Dave or other Wyze executive would be interested in giving us a glimpse/update on some of his/their smart home of today? with Wyze, integration with other stuff like heat pumps, sprinklers, Alexa, Google Home?

also remember the Wyze Q&A Episode 1? (6 years ago)

Alexa (7 years ago)

These were awesome updates!

I was aware of some of these but don’t think I’d seen all of them before. I wonder if anybody would’ve attempted to answer questions like this during this week’s AMA? What I read seemed pretty focused on the two most recent product releases. Maybe you’ll get a chance to ask some things in October? I’m assuming there will be a Wyze Week with community events then.

I’m also interested in non-camera smart home stuff.

I go back and review some of them periodically. They are all on the Wyze YouTube channel. I like the internals of how the company runs and involves their team in these updates.

Like the podcast they apparently used to do?

Wow. Thank you for sharing link to podcasts. I had not found them previously!

I just gave the first podcast 4 stars :glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star:.

Excellent insights including on Wyze customer engagement.

This series of podcast provides Good insight around the people who work at Wyze, including their background, education and considerations, for what is being developed.

And here is recent from Wyze’s Logan Dunn on Managing Petabytes of Customer Data …

“When your business model relies on cameras inside people’s homes, trust isn’t optional — it’s everything. In this episode of Brilliant Commerce, Bryan speaks with Logan Dunn, Head of E-commerce at Wyze, about how the smart home disruptor is evolving beyond their initial “too good to be true” pricing strategy. After slashing camera prices from $200 to $20 and sparking a price war, Wyze now focuses on security and customer data management as competitive advantages in what Logan calls a “blood ocean” market.
Logan explains how they’re implementing end-to-end encryption, two-factor authentication, and rigorous security protocols after learning hard lessons about customer trust. He offers a candid look at the challenges of managing a petabyte of customer data, the implementation of AI productivity tools like Glean, and why maintaining a … “

Thanks. I don’t know when I’ll get around to listening to it, but I added it to a playlist in the podcast app I use.

I haven’t yet listened to that episode, because I have all of my regular non-Wyze stuff that I listen to, and I’m behind on that. So far I’ve heard only the first of the Kitchen Talks.

Interesting that 7 years ago (as seen in Dave’s Alexa video) Alexa integration was very important to Dave and Wyze team.
and that Frederik Delacourt, previous Wyze Sr Director Technology & Services, worked on the original Amazon Alexa team before working at Wyze for 4 years. Impressive at that time, as well within the Wyze 2019 Kitchen Podcasts (thanks @CatHome ) there is a lot of comments including on Smart homes from tech team for their own homes.

It would be helpful to get a focused update on this during October’s Wyze Week if it happens this year.
