Kitchen Talks with Wyze

While hunting for a podcast to listen to today, I searched for ‘Wyze’ on my iphone, and stumbled upon “Kitchen Talks with Wyze”

Even though the show appears to have only run for 5 episodes, I listened to the 1st episode, and was wanting more of the same.

I wonder why Wyze quit creating this type of podcasts…

Good find, and thanks for sharing! I see the same five episodes when I search in my preferred podcast app, so I’ll give the first episode a try at some point. (I’m backlogged with others at the moment, so I don’t need another subscription, but at least that first episode is short, and 1.5× speed makes it even shorter.)

Wow, that’s really cool. I wish they still did that!

Thanks for sharing. I didn’t even know these existed.

Would this be a valid ‘wishlist’ item?

Here is a tip. No need to subscribe, click on the second link above (libsyn.com). The icon in the yellow circle in my picture below is a direct download of each MP3. Save them on a device and listen whenever you have time.

Appreciate it, but no need. In Podcast Republic (my preferred app) I can already download individual episodes (which is what I did and noted above) or choose to subscribe if I want to have the app automatically download all/future episodes. That’s much easier than visiting Libsyn and dealing with file downloads manually. Tapping the button to download the single episode automatically adds it to my “Unplayed” playlist in the app, so it’s already ready to go.

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed listening to all 5 episodes even though they are 5 years old.

There was one question asked, what is your favorite Wyze product? The answer was “the v2”.

I finished up the 5 episodes as well, and was amused that the v2 was the favorite product at that time.

I think Wyze should revive the Podcast. Perhaps even having customer’s call in to discuss products, issues, ideas, etc. Sort of like a “Fix It Friday” event in ‘real time’

I can think of some Forum members I might like to hear from. I can think of one member in particular who’s fairly adept at posting polls and who could organize a poll for community nominations and might be an interesting episode guest….@peepeep

If Wyze did revive their podcast, I would listen regularly.

Checking this Podcast Republic app out now (I used to use PocketCasts, currently use Apple’s Podcast app). I like the way Podcast Republic ties in live radio feeds along with Podcasts.

I dig it and have been using it for years (I’m not even sure exactly how long, but my Android version was in the lower single digits when I started), beginning with the Public Radio & Podcast app, which was kind of a predecessor from the same developer. I’ve also tried Playapod but couldn’t get past some of the UI quirks because I’ve spent so much time with Podcast Republic and have gotten accustomed to the way it does things.

Podcast Republic does a lot of cool things, and I “subscribe” to some streaming radio stations as well as regular podcasts, so it’s it’s nice to have them all in one audio app. Even if you can’t find a streaming station in a search, you can manually add the stream if you know (or can grab) the URL. It also lets you do things like “Add a YouTube podcast” (which is handy even for unpublished playlists) or “Add a virtual podcast” (where you can point it at a folder on your phone and drop files into that at will; that’s probably how I would’ve done it if I needed to manually download the Wyze podcast file as @StevenA suggested, but just adding the single episode in the regular way was much easier). It’s one of my most-used apps.

I’ve also had a few issues with it in the past and have e-mailed the developer, who’s been very responsive. At one point, we had an exchange about an issue with casting (I like using that feature to play audio through Google Home devices, either individual speakers or groups) and he sent me a Dropbox link to an APK with a fix that he came up with and that he wanted me to try before releasing it to Google Play. Updates to the app seem to appear pretty frequently.

If you are looking for a basic podcast MP3 player, check out Voice Audiobook Player. It is free and open source.

I know I could get an app that will do RSS and listen in the app, but I guess I am old school. I used to listen to technology radio shows starting back in the 90s. Back then I used to feed an AM radio into my computer sound card and use a program called Cool Edit Pro (which is now Adobe Audition) to make a digital audio files to time shift and listen at my convenience.

I just got used to listening to audio content this way before MP3s and RSS were commonly used.
