I vote for Lastpass Authenticator. Like the Google Authenticator it works with everything I’ve thrown at it with the added benefit that it pops up an Approve/Deny button for some calibrated accounts. I prefer the Authenticator to SMS because it backs up data to the cloud and I can easily use it when I go abroad, something which tends to be iffy with SMS (especially if I forget and swap the SIM). I’ve had situations before where I really messed myself up because I swapped my SIM and then was no longer able to authenticate certain accounts. Luckily I have T-Mobile now and that has not been an issue for the last several years, still I think a choice or perhaps using SMS as a backup to something else would be best practice.
I also would like to throw a vote in for some sort of ‘local’ on-device authentication. I know that the general consensus is that apps are already behind fingerprint or face ID, but the idea is that sometimes we’ll hand our phone over to someone, either to talk or to browse photos, videos or something. I personally do not hover over the person I loan my phone to, that doesn’t mean that I don’t care about the apps they get into. I don’t want anyone but me or my wife viewing our indoor camera footage so it’d be nice if the Wyze app had local authentication.
Doesn’t it work out that if you support Google Authenticator you support most app-based 2FA? I use Dashlane for my 2FA app since it can be carried from phone to phone and shared. It had historically worked for every app-based 2FA I’ve come across.

add Facial Recognition to log into the account as an extra security measure. Sometimes we protect our family from what’s in the house as well.
why did you chose SMS instead of say, google authenticator?
why is the software only in English?
why can the phone number only be from the USA/Canada?
why you can’t request the archives from the camera over the network?
I know sms is “simple” to implement. You basically just create a number that you sent via SMS and if it matches you are done, and you can easily secure this with a random salt generated on the client side and the hash can be verified without really sharing the number, But, this is not even close to working in a global market. And whether you would like to admit it or not, your cameras are used outside the region you planned them to be used at.

The quickest answer to some of your questions is Wyze is not an international company yet, and it’s not even a surety they will become one. Please see this support article. Even though they have not authorized international sales, some companies like Amazon have ignored that and sell them internationally anyway.

And the 2FA thing right now proves to be more of an issue since many of us are currently locked out of our own accounts because of this system. SMS is too easy to overloas
Upvoting this… but hoping we will have ‘Two-Factor Authentication’ feature for Philippine users too. It would help increase our peace-of-mind especially after I recently discovered reports of Wyze security system being hacked. Right now I’m kinda worried of using Wyze products and would not have bought them if I’ve read the report beforehand and knew the software’s security features is half-baked.
In my experience anything that works with GA works with Authy. Even Outlook which told me to use Microsoft authenticator worked with Authy. I get the impression that If is totp, Authy will just handle it
Please reconsider the 2FA, if an account outside us gets ‚hacked‘ it is bad for the reputation and the user, too. I live in Germany and can not use the 2FA due to the necessity of an US number… thilo
