Turn off persistent notification icon

Using a Samsung S22+, Android 14.

Is there a way to turn off the persistent “W” icon in the notification bar? I can dismiss this notification, but it just returns shortly after. In the app, I do have “Running in the background” turned on, but according to the text, it doesn’t sound like the app will let me know if a trigger goes off when I’m away from home if it’s not running.

I think something changed in the app a few months ago as this didn’t use to be there.

Thanks.

Welcome @john_k

Looks like you are using a Samsung. Just as an FYI, you really don’t need to have the run in background option selected. In the App Info setting on the App itself, make sure Battery is set to Unrestricted.

I have an S24+ and have no issues with the icon showing only when there is a notification waiting.

If needed, I can share my settings under App Info, if you wish.

Thanks much. I think that did the trick.

Sometimes I get a delay of a minute or more before I’m notified of an alert and that was throwing my testing off.

My Pleasure. Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions

I guess I spoke too soon. The notification icon is back up and keeps returning even after I close it out by acknowledging the message.

When you see the W at the top of the screen and then swipe down, what is the notification showing?

Sometimes this message. I think my second photo in the OP is also one I get sometimes.

This is what my app is set to.

LONG PRESS the notification and go to the notifications for Wyze and turn off the Toggle for “Notification Manager”. I’m on a Pixel so this is my way. This is also where you can change the Wyze ding to be different than your other notifications.

Thanks and tried that, but I don’t get that screen when I long press on the notification. I get the first one below. If I try to turn notification off there, the Push Notifications screen in the app gives the warning in the second screencap (posted below) and I no longer get notified when I trip the camera.

Running Android 14 and Wyze App version 3.3.0 (609).
