Trusted Devices

When selecting “Trust this device” at the prompt of the authentication login screen, device never appears in the Trusted Devices section. Is some other step required in order to have the app set it?

Phone LG G7 ThinQ
OS Android 10
App version 3.2.0.580

@oskarem,

Are you referencing the following screen?

If so when I use it it seems to work. In your post you referenced the Trusted Devices section. I am not familiar with that section. Can you post the navigation to that section?

Account tab > Account > Trusted Devices:

Thanks. I was looking for it on the website and it was in the app the whole time.

Although I select Trust this Device on the phone app, the list is always empty.

Interesting. @Seapup screenshot was populated and I just checked mine, it’s populated.

I was thinking how does Wyze know all this info that is outside their ecosystem. There must be an OS call that gives this info.

If so I’m wondering if there is an OS setting that effects you.

Maybe @Seapup or others have some insight.

One thing I notice when comparing @Seapup’s list to my own is that my list is showing only logins via Google Chrome (one Windows and two Linux instances). None of my mobile devices show up on that list, and I don’t use Chrome as the default browser on any of those.

I’m not saying that’s the issue, because I would expect Wyze’s system to be able to determine the browser type used to authenticate (assuming the browser is telling the server the truth and not trying to obfuscate its identity too much) and to show that in the Trusted Devices list, but it does seem weird to me that my mobile logins aren’t there. I don’t know what the deal is.

Perhaps the issue is linked to the Android version. Mine is 10, which is a bit old, and it’s possible that the app is not able to get certain device attributes/permissions if it has been developed targeting a newer Android version.

What OS and version do you have?

I also use Android 10 on one device:

  • Android 13 running Wyze app version 2.50.9.512
  • Android 10 running Wyze app version 3.1.5.569
  • Android 13 (Go edition) running Wyze app version 2.50.9.512

I don’t think it’s an OS version issue, but I really don’t know why these devices aren’t showing up in the list. Do you use Google Chrome as your default browser? I wouldn’t think that would be the issue, but it’s a difference I notice when I compare lists as I noted above.

I have tried with both Google Chrome and Firefox. The result is the same.

What happens after 90 days? Do I need to go back and get my phone re-trusted?

If you’re asking specifically about your app login, then you shouldn’t have to do that—at least that hasn’t been my experience. The only times I’ve really had to log back into my account in the app itself have been when I’ve intentionally logged out to clear the local cache and data while trying to resolve an issue or troubleshoot something for another user.

It says, “The validity period for trusted devices is 90 days.”
What do you do after 90 days?
Does the phone going off the trusted devices list after 90 days present any vulnerabilities or loss of functions?

That’s what the authorization Web site says during login, yes, but I don’t know how accurate that is. The Trusted Devices screen in the app says this:

:information_source: The validity period for trusted devices is 30 days

What are we supposed to do with that discrepancy?

:man_shrugging:

For what it’s worth, I just logged into my Wyze account in Firefox on Linux and then went to check my Trusted Devices, and that screen still shows only the Chrome logins. I don’t know how to interpret any of this.

My trusted devices screen says 90 days. Wyze is so goofy. It’s like the software engineers are in elementary school :frowning:

I see 30 in two different versions of the Android app. The Web site that you get routed to during the login/authorization process says 90. Who knows? :man_shrugging:

Why is ““windows chrome 55f”” in my trusted device list? I have chrome disabled on my phone.

Perhaps you’re accessing the Forum via Chrome on a PC running Windows? You have to log into your Wyze account to do that.

It just means you will have to re-login.

I’m using Samsung Internet with DuckDuckGo browser on my android.
I’m using Microsoft Edge with DuckDuckGo browser on my laptop.
I’m in this forum on my laptop.
