Tricking my Emulator into seeing wifi networks

I got a Wyze Cam too livestream my farm animals, because I was watching my guardian dogs play and thought others would like to watch as well

I do not own a phone but I own a computer with Ethernet

I cannot complete the setup because I don’t have a wifi card, which would let the Wyze App see networks around me.

I was thinking that there has to be a way to trick the emulator see what network I am connected too

Or, use my computers Ethernet connection to search for wireless connections around me ( the only one would be my router ), then somehow manually input all of the data into the Wyze app I am emulating.

Are there apps that can trick my computer into detecting wireless networks that it cant see?

Welcome to the Forum, @liamiscool301!

I don’t know if what you want to do is going to be possible without adding something to your setup, but that might depend upon what particular camera you’re trying to configure. While older Wyze Cam models used an app-generated QR code that the camera would scan, newer Wyze Cams use a Bluetooth radio to find nearby devices (i.e., the camera would be detected as a device near your phone in a normal setup situation), and since you said that you don’t have a Wi-Fi card for your PC, I’m guessing that you also don’t have a Bluetooth dongle. Even if you did, I’m not sure if an emulator would be able to use that, but I’ve also never tried something like that.

I believe that the Bluetooth connection between the phone and camera is also used to transmit the Wi-Fi connection information (LAN SSID and password) to the camera so that the camera can store it and connect to your home (farm) Wi-Fi network. Wyze Cams are heavily dependent upon an Internet connection in order to provide any meaningful utility.

I noticed that you posted to the Watercooler category, but your question seems like it’s actually about using a specific camera, so Cameras might be a better fit in order to get your topic the visibility you might want. I’d also suggest changing the tags to add at least one for the specific camera model you have. If you need assistance with this, then we can ask the Moderators. Hopefully getting this topic into a more relevant category will draw the assistance you seek!

You might be able to emulate an Android device on your desktop computer to see the live stream, but for setting up a Wyze camera, you really need to get/borrow a phone or tablet.

You could buy a cheap phone without a service plan to setup your cams.
