Time stamp blocks view in playback mode

Does anyone understand the need to have a time stamp directly in the middle of the camera view when scrolling through SD data in playback mode? The stamp itself might make sense if i wasn’t litterally already using a ruler like time-line to do the scrolling, but why smack in the middle of the cam view? And why when i already have the date and time recorded by the camera itself? Even when you use the fwd or back 30 sec buttons??
This drives me nuts🤪. Even when I switch to landscape view I cannot escape the needless redundancy.

Doesn’t the time stamp disappear when playback actually starts?

Yes, it does. But, it pops back up whenever i scroll or use the fwd/back buttons. It’s very distracting when im reviewing footage. It also prevents from being able to do a time laspe using screen record. Plus, it is poinless having the date and time in 3 different places on the screen at the same time.

But that feature is useful to me when I’m searching for a particular footage when I know the approximate time the event happened. Maybe you can request for a way to turn this off for time lapse.

I also use it for fine scrubbing when I know the exact minute I’m searching for. Doesn’t need to be smack in the middle but I can’t say that bothers me, either.

I created a thread about this back in 2018 :mantelpiece_clock:Timestamp Customization (location, color, size, etc.)

I just noticed yesterday that the v2 version is off-center (higher) and smaller:

The bigger and centered v3 version is ok in landscape, imo, but it does obscure a lot of content in portrait.

I like having the large timestamp show up when scrolling forward and back 30 seconds, as the timestamp in the lower right corner of the video itself is usually too small for me to easily decipher. I agree it doesn’t need to be in the middle of the video, but that’s never bothered me.

Plus, it is poinless having the date and time in 3 different places on the screen at the same time.

What is the 3rd place? I only see it in 2 places.

Not exactly related to this, but I really dislike how the UI was set up for the 30 second fast-forward and rewind on the v3 Pro cams. The icons for scrolling are shown on top of the video itself, and they disappear each time you tap them. So you have to tap the video twice to scroll once - once for the icons to display and another time for it to scroll once. You can’t tap quickly and repeatedly like on the v2 and v3 original cams to go back say 3 minutes, If you tap repeatedly and too quickly on the v3 Pro, it instead zooms into the video.

On the v3 Pro, no large timestamp is shown on top of the video; it is instead shown on the bottom vertical timeline - this would be ok I guess, if not for the other problem of the icons disappearing each time you scroll. Does that with the icons disappearing bother anyone else who uses v3 Pro’s? If I had more time I’d write it up as a wishlist item as something I’d like changed.

Hmm, I just tried scrolling on a v3 in landscape mode, where the icons are displayed over the video too. That has the same issue with it zooming instead of scrolling if you tap too fast. Portrait view scrolling is much easier. But at least the icons don’t disappear each time they are tapped.

Disappearing icons are bad. I have a V1 floodlight and I use the button to manually turn it on when needed. Then I installed a V2 floodlight. I couldn’t have guessed that button is now hidden and you need to tap on the view to see that button. Maybe Wyze is hiding buttons so there would be fewer bug reports?

The 3 places that i see the date/time on my screen are the time stamp embedded in the video itself, on the scroll strip along the bottom edge, and inside the black box that pops up in the center of the screen when using the scroll strip.

Here’s my related (constructive) Wishlist gripe (to add to @tbagcam’s above)

It’s unanimous, more than 16 agree!
