Thermostat only 3 temp settings?

It appears that there are only 3 temperature settings for the Thermostat (Home, sleep, away). Why is it so limiting? I use at least 5 different temperatures a day and anything less than that just wont work for me. I have an Amazon thermostat that also only has 3 settings, and it makes it nearly useless.

Sounds like this is useless to you then. Probably should return it.

Chuckle. My home thermostat also has three and I only use two of them (Home and Sleep). Since I can’t NOT have settings for Away, I set that to be the same as Home.

Funny. I have just ON and OFF.

I use the thermostat profiles as Smart Home profiles.

If it’s set to Away, an automation will do a bunch of things as if I’m not home.

If it’s set to sleep, setup the house for sleep.

Home…set up home like things.

These are comprised of which cameras or sensors to turn on notifications, lights and plugs get turned on or off, stuff like that.

@marothwell,

Have you explored “Schedule”.

It allows you to have multiple temp settings based on time. Following is a screenshot of my Schedule.

I never use the “Temperature Preferences” as someone is in the house 24/7.

None of these responses show more than 3 temp settings. Your picture shows that you set it to home several times. I want to be able to wake up to one temp, Work from home at a 2nd temp. Evening at a 3rd temp. Pre-bedtime at a 4th temp. Sleep at a 5th temp. And yes, I do use all of those temps. My cheapo non-smart thermostat I could program a different temp for every minute if I chose to. I was just about to buy one of these, until I noticed it only has 3 temp settings programmable. It just doens’t make sense.

Look close at the 3 home settings. They are different.

When you make/modify the block you will get the following dialog

The new “Schedule” takes precedent over “Temperature Preferences”.

Yes, you can set different different schedules and temps throughout the day. Home at 9am can be 72, noon at 70, 3pm is 71… on and on.

The Home Profile is just that… a profile. It’s not the ONLY temp you can select. You can override it by using schedules to override the temps, and choosing a profile. They are NOT 1 and the same. They are 2 different things… I can choose Sleep and then choose to make the temp whatever I want.

Or I just ALWAYS use the Home Profile and keep changing the temperature.

Dealers choice. Tinker around OP, you will see what we mean.
