The worst customer service I've ever experienced

Your support system leaves much to be desired. I’ve never felt more like I was just an insignificant number to a company that only values the bottom dollar. This is the very reason I didn’t renew any services with your company. Your company seriously needs some remedial training in customer service. I’ve never been more disappointed and sorry that I invested the money that I did with a company that clearly doesn’t care about it’s customers.

I am sorry you had this experience, do you have any ticket numbers I could look into?

Unfortunately no I don’t. There really wouldn’t be a ticket number. The short version is it was about a service Wyze had offered and a timing issue and now another issue of internal parts (both ribbon cables in 2 different devices) that I need to fix two of my out of warranty cameras that I can’t afford to replace but you don’t sell those kind of parts. I’m guessing it’s by design so Wyze can charge me more money for more disposable cameras. There is 0 effort on the customer service front from Wyze. Wyze has been nothing but a disappointment to me. I regret choosing to give the new up and coming company a shot rather than going with Google. Hind sights 20/20 I guess. But thanks for responding, Jason. It’s more than I’ve come to expect from Wyze

These are cheap cameras that most people just replace them when they break. I doubt it makes business sense to stock and provide replacement parts for low margin cameras.

I get that the cameras aren’t the highest quality cameras but the prices they’re charging for these so called “cheap cameras” is anything but cheap. It is way more cost effective for someone like myself who is on a very structured income to replace a few ribbon cables. The fact that Wyze doesn’t sell any internal parts such as simple ribbon cables speaks volumes to their intent that customer service and support come in a pale second to their bottom line profit. Sadly if this were the only issue I have with their support I could possibly I overlook it but they won’t even consider working with someone who has been a customer since they started. It means nothing to them

Based on the video above, the ribbon cable seems to be “AWM 20624 80C 60V VW-1” for Cam Pan V3.

Based on what Aliexpress sellers are advising, you will need to know the following to purchase the right ribbon cable

  • Number of contacts pins
  • Type A (same or forward direction) or Type B (reverse direction)
  • 0.5mm or 1mm pin pitch which will determine the total width based on how many pins you want
  • Length of the ribbon cable

Check out the 2nd and 3rd picture of the Aliexpress listing for reference. You might want to shop around to see if there are better prices or check Amazon. I picked this specific listing because it teaches you how to pick the correct ribbon cable.

I never bought this before so you might want to research more into this before buying anything.

Wow! Thank you. I had no idea on any of that. Is AliExpress to be trusted? I heard they were kinda like Temu. It’s just as likely you’ll get a picture of the item you wanted to purchase as you are to get nothing at all and an even harder time getting your money back. That being said…

Hey Wyze, you paying attention? Be sure to thank your customer for taking up your slack. You should hire this person to give your customer service and support crews some much needed remedial training.

The Force is strong with this one!

Well Done @grapefruityoda, Much thanks I give to you. You are indeed the Master and I the Padawan.

Now if you could just roll back time a little bit so I can resolve the issue that really made me an ex customer and staunch supporter of Wyze (Wyze mesh 6 router, Wyze scale, Wyze watch, Wyze doorbell, multiple Wyze Cameras well into the hundreds of $$$ spent that means absolutely nothing to @Wyze Team) my life would be complete.

@WyzeJasonJ

@habib I won’t go into it here because I’m too petty but if you ever get the notion to message me outside of this forum I will tell you a thing or two about those cheap cameras that would make you think differently

I treat AliExpress like eBay. You definitely need to exercise some caution to vet the sellers. In my experience, they delivered the things I actually ordered over the years, but like eBay you need to check out the sellers. As a precaution, I always order using Paypal with them as they tend to protect buyers first. Most of the things I bought from them are usually within ~$10.

Buying from Amazon is definitely the way to go due to the ease of returns if there are issues with your order. You should be able to find the ribbon cable you want if you search “AWM 20624”. I think the ribbon cables are also called FFC (Flat Flexible Cable).

@grapefruityoda I ALWAYS USE PAYPAL TO SCREEN VENDORS. LOL. If they don’t offer a choice to pay with PayPal or some other form of garanteeing your money there’s usually a reason why.

You seem pretty knowledgeable about this type of thing. Any tricks to fix the ribbon cables?. The ends of both said ribbon cables where they slip into their respective ports, came off.

So basically Wyze has made throw away cameras, which just ads more plastic waste in our landfills or oceans. But their camera aren’t as “cheap” cost wise as they used to be, thanks to the tariffs. The cameras should last way outside of the warranty. An inexpensive cameras that fail all the time are pointless.

Haha actually I’m not knowledgeable about this thing at all. I just searched online and learn along the way.

On the teardown video above at 14:10, there might be a latch to release or lock it in place. If it’s disconnected on the other side like at 17:30, then you will need to inspect if there’s a latch since he never took it apart in the video. Just be careful as I have seen some of them use solder to connect the cables. FYI, he also mentions at 17:25 the black ribbon cable is glued down. Good luck!

@greg.bruno1965 and @Resist , I was just trying to point out that I don’t think Wyze has intention of providing replacement parts for relatively cheap cameras. I doubt that there is any profitability in doing so as they already sell these cameras at low margin rates.

I was not trying to justify premature failure of the cameras or defending Wyze in any way or shape. As a matter of fact, I doubt that any of Wyze’s competitors are selling replacement parts for any of their cameras.

So, what you’re saying is… :hugs:

@habib price and profit shouldn’t be an option. It’s good customer support. You supply your customer with the parts they need and let them handle the costs it’s a no loss no brainer for the company and you get the added benefit of standing behind your product and satisfying your customer. Simple math in my opinion. Sad to say but customer service went the way of the department store long ago.

And as much as this is gonna leave a sour taste in my mouth, Wyze cameras aren’t cheap cameras. Those little things can take a beating and keep right on doing what they do. One of my broken cameras has been slammed to the ground from about 20 feet in the air, hit by large tree branches and been pecked on, s#!t on, and abused by every bird and bug in my area and minus the ribbon cable I need it’s still working. The other ribbon cable on the other camera was just faulty I think. It just decided the end was going to come off. If Wyze would have put in some effort I’d gave written a rave review on their toughness. As it is though I’ll be deleting this message sometime tomorrow after I think it’s been up for sufficient amount of time for you to see it

@grapefruityoda yeah I actually seen some of those videos but none of them said anything about finding parts for them. And yes there is a clip that keeps the ribbon cable in place. It also has some form of tape or plastic at the ends of the ribbon cable where said clip sits on and keeps pressure on it. That’s the part of the ribbon cable that’s messed up

Don’t get me wrong, I feel your pain and frustration and I know, money doesn’t grow on trees. Unfortunately, Wyze is not alone on the bandwagon of disposable gear. Nothing is made to last and the only things that you can get replaceable parts are high priced items, like cars and appliances. Even those are hard to come by. Everything is made to be replaced and is very sad in my opinion.
