The floodlight Pro will not turn itself off after automations. There is no timer, like on the floodlight v1s for some reason. “Turn off after xx minutes”. If the light triggers from automation and turns on it just stays on until you turn it off the next time. :woman_facepalming:t3:

Yeah, I’ve been asking for this since day one too.

There is a “workaround” but it’s not ideal and basically requires doing something like buying a plug and setting the plug to turn on for x minutes when the floodlight turns on, then the plug will turn off after those x minutes, and a different rule can tell the floodlight to turn off whenever the plug turns off. So that fixes the problem, but it’s ridiculous to have to spend money on a separate device for something that should be included as a standard rule.

:smirk: This sounds about right.

I’ve given up all hope at this point …

If the trigger for the automation you want is motion detection by the FLP, then settings in the FLP’s Settings > Floodlight Settings > Activate When Camera Detections Motion do allow for turning the light off after up to 5 minutes as shown here:

Granted, this doesn’t help if the automatic trigger is something other than motion detection by the same FLP (for example, motion detection by different camera).

Long long ago… I replaced two"dumb" floodlights with two v1 floodlight cams. It was a quick way to get cameras to those two places without running new power.

I immediately started having issues, especially with motion detection. So I bought a couple door sensors and created an automation to turn on the floodlight for x minutes whenever the corresponding door was opened. Worked like a charm, except after x minutes, the floodlight would turn off and never turn back on. The triggers to turn on with motion detection simply broke. So, I’d be in the yard or on the porch and have the light go off, even though I’d be waving my hands directly in front of the camera. The only fix was to go into the floodlight setting, disable and re-enable motion detection.

Tried tweaking several settings and ultimately gave up and bought a smart switch that could turn the light on and off manually if needed. The behavior should be: switch on = light on. Switch off = normal operation, whatever the settings dictate. In my case, triggering based on PiR sensing motion. Nope. Too much to ask.

I posted a few times about this and tried to troubleshoot. Someone concluded that this was by design and that it was simply doing what I’d asked it to do.

I’ve given up on the Wyze software team. This is the most basic of functionality, and could be fixed with firmware/software updates. For now, I am dealing with the poor motion detection (I often walk around in the dark for a while before it detects me, yet it’ll detect lighting changes from within the house through the window more reliably). Eventually, I’ll be moving to a PoE setup from a company that cares.

Right so in my specific usage, and I think a lot of people probably do the same thing, I have a camera near my door so that when it sees me come on the porch it will trigger the flood light so I can see to get down the stairs. If I don’t have this trigger in place by the time the floodlight Pro sees me and detects motion I’m already down the stairs and in the driveway. So I still have this trigger in place but I just have to remember once I get out to my car to cut the flood light back off or else it will stay on all night long. The v1s on the other side of the house work flawlessly with this trigger and will turn themselves back off after the number of minutes set in the automation. I would replace this one with a V1 but the fact that we can’t change out the cameras with a newer camera version to have better picture quality kills that for me because I have a very long driveway.

Thanks for asking. Got busy … Will be back with list hopefully shortly.

Unfortunately, I have no idea when Wyze is going to add the needed rule action for FLP. But here’s another workaround that doesn’t involve buying a plug. It uses Alexa. (I’m not sure, but I think you may be able to use this even if you don’t have any Alexa devices by setting up an Alexa account and linking Wyze.) I don’t have Google Home, but I would imagine the same may be able to be accomplished with it.

Fortunately, Alexa can use the FLP floodlight coming on as a trigger, has a “wait” action, and has an action to turn off the FLP floodlight. (In Alexa, turning on/off the FLP device affects the floodlight, not the camera.) Here’s a simple Alexa routing that turns my Deck floodlight off after it’s been on for five minutes (regardless of what turned it on).

Nice. I never even checked Alexa for this. Great idea Loki!

Turn off after # minutes is still not available on floodlight pro automations. It’s now coming to the end of June and I’m starting to think they will never fix it. :woman_facepalming:t3:

From 2024…

Any update on progress on Wyze rules/automation?

A WAIT function and a WHILE function would be great.

Wait 10 seconds

Do while motion is active

(The while command code is in motion sensor automations).

It would be awesome to have do while (like motion sensor) for cams so that ‘do WHILE’ is available for people and animals rather than all the time like motion sensor currently)

I either do 2 rules or kludge with Alexa of IFTTT for these.

Thanks.

Any option to keep other lights (or actions) on until Floodlight motion stops. I have floodlight pro that I use to also turn on back door light which I would like to go off when motion stops as well.

Does the floodlight turn off five minutes after it is initially turned on or does it turn off five minutes after motion is no longer detected?
