Why ? You ask ! Because device worship is bad and plus i use every device i buy from you also not 1 of them is a favorite because not 1 of them works flawlessly even if it did go back to the first reason i gave . So fav tab needs to go , it give wyze the false thought that they are doing something right and never problems that have haunted them from begining keep putting new devices out and alot have same problems as earlier ones in which the earlier ones still sit on my table waiting to use them and in mean time another modle of that devices has been realsed and that one does not work !
This is a user specific opinion and much appreciated. I personally like the favorites tab as the items that I want to get to quickly are on the Favorites page. I have my 2 front cameras on the page and my perimeter cameras in a group on the page as well. In addition, I use one Temp Sensor on the page as it is outside and it provides the temp and humidity at a glance. There are other items, light groups, etc which are there as well. My other devices and groups are in the Device Tab. so I can get to anything quickly.
Again, it is personal preference. There is a request to make the default tab user specific. Therefore each user can start the app in the tab they want.
That sounds sinful.
Usually favorites tabs are more / most useful to those with many devices. I still don’t use the new app on a daily basis as it’s kind of a disaster for other reasons. However I use other Smart home apps that do have favorite tabs that work very well, and its primarily due to the fact that I have many devices, and quite a few that just don’t need to be interacted with regularly.
I like the favorites tab because it means I now have 2 dashboards to choose from. I can organize devices in 2 different ways depending on my use case. It makes everything work way more efficiently for me, saving me time. That also means not having to waste as much time on my device. I can more quickly access the thing I intended to do or check and get back off in less time and that means less time on the device, and less time wasted on the device would be the opposite of “device worship” from a certain perspective because I can do other things with that saved time instead, when before that extra less efficient time would’ve been wasted on the device.
I know some people are easier able to find the devices they are looking for this way too. For example, I know one Mod who puts cameras on one side of the dashboard and lights on the other side of the dashboard, and now he can scroll down to whichever camera or light he wants to access really fast instead of scrolling around longer trying to find it.
I personally wish Wyze would let us add more than just 2 device dashboards. On Home Assistant I have almost a dozen dashboards for different use cases (a general home control, one for all my lights, one for all my sensors, battery status, maps and location, things related to my cats, one related to each member of my family specifically, a guest dashboard, a dashboard for tasks/lists, all sorts of things) I’d like more options here too. I don’t think Wyze should force people to have more than 1 dashboard though. Make it a selectable toggle. If someone wants more dashboards, let them have more. If someone wants to choose a setting to only have one, allow them to just have one. Everybody wins for their preference.
I like the Fav tab and groups. I have always used groups to keep everything clean. Having more or fewer tabs sounds interesting and should please a few people.
