Suggestions for wider view lens for v4

Hello all,

I have many v4s that I have taken apart and adjusted the lenses for bird feeders, bird baths and other projects. All of those projects the base wyze lens works fine but I recently have purchased a reptile tank that I would like to put a camera on but I need a wider view. Anyone have any links (In the USA) of a wider view lens option? I have tried a few but they are either poor quality or too short because I have to screw it in too much to produce a clear picture.

They have a lens that can be attached to the battery cam pro for their birdfeeder, but I believe you have to purchase the whole feeder to get it. Whether it would work on the v4 or not, can’t say.

There are various lenses that you can stick over cell phone cameras available on amazon and other places, you might have to do trial and error on those to see if any work.

I’m looking for suggestions on the actual M12 lense, I don’t want to do an attachment.

I’d be surprised if anyone here has attempted it, but never know.

A dual lens solution may be the only way to get the view you want, most wide angle lenses operate that way from what I remember. So whether it snaps on or is two lenses in a single housing inside the camera, shouldn’t matter much.

The BCP with the snap on lens seems to create very good quality images.

I’ve taken apart a few v4s and changed lenses and adjusted them but was hoping someone would have a suggestion for a wide angle M12 lense they used. I have to keep returning the ones I’m getting from Amazon as they are too short or bad quality. Thanks for trying

Maybe @seapup or @carverofchoice or @Omgitstony might have some ideas. I believe all 3 have been known to disassemble and modify things

The v4 is still fairly new so probably not as many people have messed around with it to that extent yet.

I’ve done the wide angle lens mod on a V2 camera, but never on a V4.

Maybe a V4 isn’t the best choice for camera. In this instance, some of the other older wyze cams have a slightly wider field of view.

If you’ve already chosen the V4 as your go-to for this project, what about the possibility of using two v4s to monitor this enclosure?

Yeah, stuck on using the V4 as I was gifted it during the holiday. I am attempting a few more lenses from Amazon. Ill try to update my results incase anyone else wants to do the same in the future. Thanks.

There is Len swap info and links on this thread for v3 cameras. As others have mentioned not sure if they will work on a v4. Good luck with your project.
