I am looking for a way to activate a particular effect (shadow, leap, etc) on my lightstrip pro without having to go into the app on my phone. For example, I have my lights controlled by Alexa. Is there a way for me to tell Alexa, “Turn on my lightstrip and set the effect to shadow.” I have the wyze skill enabled so the first part, turning on the lightstrip, works. But the second part is not recognized. Or is there a way to do this via an automation?

I don’t think what you’re asking is going to be possible unless the Light Strip Pro was already using that effect when you turned it off. That’s based on my previous experience with Light Strip Pro and Google Home, where, if I had previously been using an Effect or Scene with the strip the last time I turned it off, if I ask Google Assistant to turn on the strip it resumes the use of that previously-selected Effect or Scene.
Even within Wyze’s own Automations section, when I select Light Strip Pro as a device that I want to control, I don’t see anything listed in the Actions that allow me to select a specific Effect or Scene. If Wyze’s own rules engine can’t selectively activate that feature, then I can’t imagine how or why they would expose that kind of control to a third party like Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
What you’re asking about has been requested in this Wishlist topic (I’m taking some liberty here by grouping “Scene” with “Effect”):
