Sound Quality/Issues?

I have 14 of the V3 camera’s. I would have to guess that the microphone is super low quality. I mean, they are $20.00 camera’s but the audio is horrible. I have them st up at different locations. Have used with older and new software update. The microphone is unfortunate. I personally would have been happy to pay a little more for better audio. It would be nice if the company sold an upgrade with instructions so the we can fix this problem. If not, they would certainly be smart to address it and say that they addressed it on their next model. Also, they should work on their zoom capability and how many cameras can be viewed at once in the app. That would be very helpful. Overall, for the money, it’s not a bad product.

I too am monitoring my aging mother and was hoping the cameras came with better microphones. As soon as the new cameras come out with better microphones I will rebuy a few. With all the technological improvements why can’t we get better microphones or at least a Jack or I can attach a microphone

Has any resolution been made or offered for improved audio quality? Personally, there are instances where hearing the audio is more important than clearly seeing the video. Overall, very satisfied with the Wyze products & love supporting this company. However, poor audio is absolutely an issue if it isn’t even being addressed.

I purchased my first Wyze product – the Outdoor Cam – yesterday, March 3, 2021. I realize it’s not the most expensive security camera out there, but the audio is totally unacceptable. What I don’t get is how Wyze hasn’t responded to all the posts on this thread going back to April 2018…almost three years. In my case, the person speaking into the camera can be heard on my cell phone, but when I speak into my cell phone my voice is very garbled at the camera. Any suggestions would be appreciated, otherwise I’m afraid this thing is getting boxed up and returned for a refund.

I can appreciate the camera overall. They are priced well. I hope in the future an upgraded app to allow you to view multiple cameras at once is available. Additional cameras with a better definition with zoom and obviosy a better microphone would be much much better. We as customers would be happy to buy the cameras at a higher price specially for areas that we need better audio and better picture quality.

I concur. I wish someone from Wyze would respond to my post regarding the poor audio quality with my Outdoor Cam.

I’m having a lot of the same issues. When I try to put music on my cam, it gets all garbled and the audio is late and echoing.

Strange I found one V2 camera better and louder are recording audio then my new V3 camera. Seems it depends on how they make them.

So where is Wyze at with this microphone issue I was a big fan when they first came out but now it seems like they are more interested in quantity vs quality trying to rush and push out a bunch of new equipment without making sure everything is fully functional as it is advertised very disappointing :disappointed:.

I purchased 8 Wyze Cam V3’s and the audio consistently sucks BIG time on ALL of them . Therefore, I’m sure this is a design flaw. And since I can’t really tell by looking where the microphone is aside from a pinhole, my guess is the microphone is blocked internally, too far from the pinhole, or it needs to be drilled out. I’ll bet if you took the microphone out? It would sound at least acceptable. Perhaps I’ll try drilling a hole on the bottom side of one of these to see what happens.

Yet another of MANY posts about the sound quality both incoming and outgoing audio that Wyze will likely continue to ignore…

Are any of the new versions of V3 any better for sound? I have lost so much opportunity with this poor sound to hear what is happening. In case of crime the police might want to hear. This is not a good security camera to buy. Just good for dogs getting into the garbage.

I have multiple audio tests I performed in this post under my username, scroll through and listen.
Most are of good quality,
No more dancing around it. Can you fix audio issues with Wyze v3 cameras? <— Click the blue link and scroll through posts to hear my different audio tests.

One Wyze Staff member even gave a like to one that had good audio…LOL

The camera 12 feet up a tree you can hear and understand me but you would need to have volume cranked up either on a downloaded event to PC or have your smartphone connected to bluetooth stereo in car with volume up. But then again the microphone on camera is 12 feet above me.

I haven’t compared to a V2 yet as I replaced and sold off most my V2’s except some I placed in the barn.
Guess I will have to move one to do a side by side comparison when I have a chance.

Here is my Wyze-Cracker Scientific V3 vs. V2 Audio test. Highly scientific as I used shipping tape to mount V2 next to V3.

There is a difference between the 2 cameras and the V2 has better audio but both do get the audio.
You can even hear my remote alarm keypad announcing the door being opened for further audio…

V3 event below:

New upcoming Wyze product nicknamed “The Wyze-Crapper” a Wyze WiFi Bidet although a firmware bug might scare the crap out of me.:poop:

Okay Wyze here is your next product, Just don’t screw up the firmware and software…LOL

I just bought a Wyze cam v3. The picture quality is outstanding but the audio is horrible. Lots of static and gurgling noises. I bought this camera to learn if my dog is barking and whining while I am away. I can barely hear his barking over the static, and doubt I could hear any whining. Should I return this camera? Is this a problem with every v3 or did I just get a defective one?

All my V3 suffer the audio malady. I have a couple of V2’s and they pick up sound incredibly well. Scale of 1-10 10 being excellent sound pickup…hear conversations in the next room 0 being static can hear voice conversation 3 feet from the microphone/camera

My V3’s rating is a Big fat Zero even with detection turned up to the max (whatever that does)
My V2’s rating is a 10

Pretty sad to have to park a V2 next to a V3 in order to hear a conversation. Still cheaper than a Nest ( I still call … [mod edit])

My audio on my Pan Cam V2 also gets a Zero rating

I see on Friday Fixit Forum this issue was tabled by Jimmy a few weeks ago…

Even bryonhu’s test reflects a clear difference in V3 vs V2 audio pickup

It is extremely disappointing that the audio is nothing but static and clicks and other odd sounds. I can’t even listen to it. If I know the approximate time, I will listen to the playback to try to hear the audio, but it is a huge disappointment and I don’t recommend this camera to anyone unless they ONLY want video. The video is spectacularly good. The audio is indeed a big fat zero.

Are you referring to the V3 Camera?

Yes, the V3
