Software Security

I am a new Wyze user just testing one cam v4 for now. The only thing that has now stopped me from pushing order on more cameras and other components are the past reports of security breaches. How can this company be trusted with that track record?

All of my Wyze v3 cameras face the outside of my house. I do not trust any camera device in sensitive areas. I also put a towel over my cell phone before jumping in to the shower.

You’ll find those reports for every cloud camera brand. As @StevenA says, internet connected cameras should not be put in sensitive areas. That being said, no current or recent security concerns that I’ve heard of.

I take it a step further and put the cams on an isolated guest wifi network. People viewing your cams isn’t the only possible security concern (same for any IOT device).

As everyone has stated you should only put Wyze cams in areas you don’t expect privacy, this goes for any Internet connected camera.

Even if they have no record of a security breach, Any camera connected to the Internet could be hacked, Some are just more difficult than others.

In highly sensitive areas offline cameras that connect to a NVR would be the most secure option if one wants fully secure sensitive area camera surveillance.
