SmartThings Integration

It has been, what 3 years in research phase? When can we expect smartthings integration. Seems this idea has been abandoned.

15 months, but who’s counting

I do wonder if the new Matter certification may impact this integration. Part of me says yes since Samsung was heavily involved in it and Wyze recently joined. Part of me says no since Matter certification won’t happen quickly (I believe @Frederik said this on a recent Matter panel that was held).

It was stated that the current hardware does not support Matter. So it’s not relevant to anything existing. Better for them to create an API based link, like Ecobee, Lutron, etc…if they want to support current hardware. For that, I think we’ll be waiting another three years.

That’s a shame. I was hoping the “easy” items like the bulbs, outlet, etc would at least support Matter. Must be a hardware issue. Guess that’s what happens when you use the cheapest hardware possible.

We are approaching the end of July and no update. End of Q2 was suggested for starting to see movement on that. Is Wyze moving forward or is this another “well we didn’t tell you which Q2” thing?

@UserCustomerGwen any update on SmartThings integration?

All I personally really want is to be able to turn cameras On/Off and ditch using IFTTT as man in the middle. Viewing cameras and automations based on smoke/Co alarms would be a huge bonus!

Yep, all I want for integration is turning on and off motion detection for when I am out or home. But, I am not waiting around for Wyze to do it since that is not going to happen. I just plugged my camera into a Z-wave plug and switch the whole thing on and off – a very old-school hack, but it works. Luckily the Wyze camera comes back in the same state as when it was powered off.

They are beta testing geofenced locations right now so I would assume geofenced motion detection would be following.

I was able to use the free IFTTT integration to get SmartThings to turn on/off a virtual switch which in turn through IFTTT turns on/off notifications. Pain in the the butt however it works for now.

I would assume all new Wyze integrations are on hold until we say how Matter pans out. I’m sure Wyze would rather meet one standard that gains them multiple integrations than develop a bunch of separate integrations.

Definitely do it, ASAP!

Looked at a 2 pack of Wyze plugs at Home Depot, but I decided NOT to buy them since there is no SmartThings integration.

Yeah, same here. I would love to buy their products, but no direct integration is a deal breaker for me. It must be really difficult I guess.

Wow… still nothing…not even a single official update… I also spotted at home depot canada the Wyze product and I looked first what is the latest status and it looks like i’m not buying any…

My brother and parents are also equipped with Smartthing and they also didn’t buy any wyze product since no smartthing integration update…

If ONLY wyze would read those messages and notice that they should on adding feature that are very high voted instead of putting their effort in releasing too many different type of product.

I would be at least just happy by integrating cam on and off without going through IFTTT and Virtual Switch.

I was starting to use HomeAssistant to automate some things just before Wyze pulled the plug on it. Just bought a SmartThings hub off EBay and will add some z-wave plugs and outlets. Got tired of waiting for anything official so going to see how well other products can be used to solve some needs. Maybe Wyze will move on this, but I don’t have much hope.

Hi, what is the current status of SmartThings integration?

BUMP! Holler! … All the community feedback, beta testing, voluntary participation to help improve the brand and products. Rave reviews, recommendations, and word-of-mouth home-grown support… not to mention constantly putting up with announcements of “new” products that we’re not interested in. and the endless cycle of daily firmware updates (which we don’t hesitate to partake in - as we are trusting in the developers). Throw us a bone and integrate SmartThings already! pu-pu-pu-pretty-please!?

I am being optimistic (with plans to be disappointed) that they are holding off until SmartThings completes the transition from Groovey to Edge. Maybe?

I doubt it. Would most likely be a cloud-to-cloud integration which has been on the new backend for a while now.

@Frederik is Matter impacting the timelines for additional integrations that Wyze had planned?

Love Wyze Cam and CamPlus BUT I will not invest in the rest of the Ecosystem until you integrate with Smartthings, Home Assistant and/or Tuya! Integration with other platforms such as ST/HA/Tuya is essential to many smarthome users especially basic user levels (and all other user levels)…

I am yearning to replace and upgrade old equipment and add in new things. I want to replace my video doorbell, replace my door and motion sensors, add some more smart locks and replace one, replace a couple thermostats with new smart ones, and so much more…

I will heavily invest in more Wyze Ecosystem products like the door lock, doorbell, sensors, thermostat, bulbs and more if I can access/use them seaminglessly with other platforms… especially ST!

I know there are plenty more current and would be Wyze customers out there that share this sentiment: if integration with these platforms doesn’t happen soon then my money will go elsewhere… I have been waiting patiently to give my money to Wyze but that patience is starting to quickly wane.
