SmartThings Integration

I tend to agree.
That whole Smartthings…thing is why I’m now advocating for Home Assistant integration. I’ll keep using ST more than likely, but I’ve setup a HA hub and am fiddling with it. Open source is really my fave.

The lack of Smartthings integration is the main reason I have not invested in the Wyze ecosystem outside of the Cams.

To be frank, most people do not like proprietary systems for reasons as stated in the article posted earlier.

In fact Samsung themselves realized this and have decided to stop making Smartthings IoT products themselves to focus more on the software platform and third-party hardware integrations.

For this reason Wyze is seriously losing out on a market that could greatly expand their reach.

Just being affordable is not enough… without playing nicely with major Smarthome platforms, especially those that appeal to the non-techie dyi’er like Smartthings is starting to do, Wyze is missing out on a huge market to expand their reach.

Anything happening here after 2+ years of researching?

It’s not going to happen.

Can they at least officially kill this so we know it is not happening?

I have a Wyze scale and like it. But I will NOT buy home automation items that don’t have a Smartthings integration.

And…?

No need to ask again until at least July

So, @UserCustomerGwen - What’s the latest on SmartThings? Over 1800 customers are asking for this, but I still see no updates or progress.

Inquiring minds want to know…

Directly above your post is a link to the last update which was not to expect anything until at least the end of Q2, that ends in June, so the earliest to expect any movement or another update would be in July.

If Wyze managed to do smartthing integration across their devices, they’d solve at least two problems at once. This one AND this one

If I had known that Wyze seems so adamantly not support some form of PC based viewing, I never would have purchased as many cams as I have. It would be nice to see Wyze to a little work to implement support for this new app if they arent willing to do something of their own.

The windows SmartThings app wouldn’t help at all. It’s very limited and can’t do things like view cameras streams.

That’s funny… I just read the that and thought the exact samething then saw your comment!

It just barely came out…give it a minute

So, I have given up on Wyze. The camera works fine, and I was using IFTTT, but that wasn’t very reliable. Currently I just have an outlet that my Wyze camera is plugged into. I switch that off when I am home and on when I leave. I do the same for my kitchen TV, which the Wyze camera thinks is motion when I am away since there is no way to block a region in the camera image. (That is something that the Linux motion detection apps have had since the 90s.)

It is amazing that all of the smart home systems can’t work together. They are all POSs that won’t even try to get along! Oh well, this has been how it has been for more that 30 years, as I used to use X10. I am not set on SmartThings, but there is no other better system out there. I don’t have a clue why Wyze won’t work with them.

Saw this on the SmartThings Community site today.

Former X-10 user here, too…yes would be nice if they all got along.
I’m using ST & Wyze.
I wish they talked.
If Wyze worked with Home Assistant I’d switch to that in a heartbeat.
ST is going through it’s own turbulence these days, so there is that.
Until then I just accept I’m using 2 different systems, 1 for automation, 1 for cams.
Doesn’t thrill me, but it is my reality.

Hey all, long time reader, first time poster (I just registered).

I’ve been watching Wyze for a hot minute, from the scale to the cams to now the color bulbs. I’ve been in the market for new colo(u)r bulbs for a while, I’ve bought (and returned) about two dozen in the last 12 months, between Amazon and BestBuy locally. The only thing I like is the Lifx 1100lmn bulbs but those (up here in Canada) are $65/ea +tax. I found these and ordered them a week ago for $47 for two, quite the difference.

They are super bright (almost on par with the LIFX bulbs I have), have a power off state, and are super inexpensive. Only downfall? No ST integration. I’m in the process of switching over to Home Assistant in the next 6 months and these would be perfect, they check all my boxes… all but one. Smart hub integration is such a necessity, I’m surprised this was skipped. My two wyze colour bulbs are now just fun novelty bulbs, having to use the wyze app isn’t ideal as I have certain triggers in my home already. Setting up routines also isn’t ideal as I don’t have a regular routine life.

I wish Wyze would bring ST+HA integration. I would instantly buy 22 more, even for hallways because the white is actually really bright white. I was surprised, these beat my LED bulbs I bought from a local store and I thought those were bright. These are next level.

Such a huge achievement, blundered by no ST/HA integration. Hope that changes soon.

It’s time to open up the platform. There are plenty of capable developers in the world that would love to write the integrations for SmartThings, Apple, Google Home or anything else, there’s still no web viewer? From November of 2018: “right now, we are focused on Google integration, due to limited resources.” I can understand business reasons for keeping it closed, ie: selling cloud services, but there are a vast majority of people who just want to use Wyze products on their local network as they see fit. I would gladly pay more for a completely open platform as opposed to wrestling with the current perpetual limitations imposed for no reason other than to make excuses and never implementing anything. It’s time.
