Slow MicroSDs causing slow connections?

I’ve been having a lot of issues connecting to my cameras. It’d take forever for the process to complete. The time shown also would skip multiple seconds. I found that if I turn off Record to MicroSD that it mostly fixes the problem. It might be that the camera is delayed because it’s accessing a slow MicroSD? This removes a valuable feature though. Wondering if any others have experienced this and what MicroSDs you use that work best. Thanks!

I have 8 cameras recording continuous to 128GB and 256GB cards and none of them have loading issues. I have V3, V3 Pro and V4 cams. I am using iOS app 2.50.9
Are any of your cameras connected to long USB cables?

Thanks for the info! Im running the latest version of the app and the cameras all have the latest firmware. Also, the USB cables are what Wyze shipped with the cameras. They are close to my mesh routers too. Been trying to figure out why and turning off the MicroSD seems to do the trick. I may get different SD cards to see if that helps.

I’m using Samsung Pro Endurance cards since I record continuous, not just events. Some of the 128GB cards have been in the cams for a least 2 years now. I am avoiding the WYZE 3.0 app.

I’ve been experiencing issues with load times (getting to Live Stream) with my cameras recently, but it seems really sporadic, and I haven’t been able to isolate it to any specific thing that I’m doing. I use either SanDisk Ultra or SanDisk High Endurance 256 GB cards doing continuous recording to microSD in all of my cameras, and I can’t think of a reason why toggling that off would affect the connection, though I’m willing to learn if someone can provide a reasonable explanation. I’ve just been operating with the idea that the load times are related to ongoing Wyze app and server changes, but that’s just speculation on my part.

I did notice one of the many issues with my neighbors Blink cams is the SD in the synch module has to be very fast (especially if you have multiple cams) or they would get really slow and even stop recording events. So I guess in theory a slow SD card could cause the camera to get bogged down. But you’d be hard pressed to find an SD card that can’t write around 0.2 megabytes per second. Perhaps faulty or fake cards (2GB cards rebadged as something bigger, which will confuse the camera)?

I have some OGs with continuous recording and some with events only and I don’t notice any difference. My two Panv3s both record continuous and don’t have issues that I’ve noticed, though I’ve never compared the speed with vs. without continuous recording.

I’m also using Samsung Pro Endurance like others here, they are cheap and pretty bulletproof, and can easily keep up with the write speed of the cams (even while watching SD video and writing at the same time).

Test and make sure your cards are good and legitimate, and that they can transfer at least about a megabyte per second, which any card should do nowadays.
