Setup/Test Floodlight :floodlight_pro: Before Mounting

Had an extra one of these ($2) so snipped a side to power, setup and test the floodlight/cam before mounting outdoors.

One of these would work, too.

I spliced an unused cord for setting up and testing floodlights. Used it 5 times already.

Cool. Which floodlight model(s) do you own? Catch any defects in pre-mount testing?

What did you do with your ‘extra hand’ after install?

If I had five I might hang a retired cam mobile.

I have all 3 floodlight models; 2 V1s (one swapped out), 2 V2s and 2 pros.

By “hand” do you mean the "S’-shaped gadget used to temporarily hang the floodlight while wiring it up? If so, I kept one in my toolbox and threw away the others.

Yep.

One of the first floodlight V1s I ordered was OK during my tests. In about a couple of days though, it started flashing intermittently, blinding my neighbors. I had to take out the ladder and uninstall it. Fortunately, the vendor (not Wyze) took it back and I got a full refund.

My v1 floodlight tested ok. Once installed, I found that, in the location I installed it (tight w/light spilling onto neighbors windows) eschewing PIR motion sensor triggering at 100% brightness, in favor of setting floods to 1% dusk-to-dawn, was the way to go. The v3 cam starlight sensor reads the near environment well at that level, and looking out a window with your actual eyes it is bright enough to see, which is what I want.

Tested a Cam v3 Spotlight accessory in a light box recently.

I bought three refurb through ebay Wyze Direct (official) and one had a bad cable which they replaced with a full kit post haste.
