Is there instructions or a help guide on integrations with Alexa? Trying to get Alexa to turn on / off some of my Wyze Automations.
I don’t have any of my Alexa devices connected to Wyze, but there’s a section of the Wyze Help Center with articles for this:
I recently got an Echo Pop (on sale on Amazon for $7!) and so far I could only get it to have Wyze person detection trigger Alexa routines, and to announce Wyze notifications.
On using Alexa to trigger Wyze rules/automations, looks like there’s a Wishlist item for it. Please vote here if you want it too:
That’s awesome! The Echo Pop was my gateway drug into Alexa (I prefer to link as much into Google Home as I can), but not at that price. When I got it, it was <$20 (US) in a bundle with a Matter-enabled color smart bulb, and I really just wanted to try Matter.
Seriously. I mean I just couldn’t pass that one. Now I’m still playing around with it to see what else I can do. I don’t think I can be convinced to shell out money for an Echo Show, but then again, if the price point is low enough…
Another thing you can try, @mdgs3 , is to use a Wyze plug as a proxy. I have a mailbox sensor that triggers an Alexa routine to turn on a Wyze plug, then I have a Wyze automation to run actions when the plug is turned on, then turn it back off right away.
You cannot control Wyze automations via Alexa. You can control devices and get some alerts. Alexa has its own automation scripts that you can use but you cannot enable/disable Wyze automations with Alexa.
I did the same thing not long after when they put a 5th Gen Echo Dot on sale in a bundle with the same bulb (and since they’re Matter-enabled, I can now control 2 bulbs with an Echo or Google Home).
The “Box of Cats” Alexa Skill gets a feline housemate’s attention. I changed Alexa’s wake word to “Ziggy” early on, and I find that Ziggy’s information generally isn’t as reliable or detailed as Google Assistant’s: I recently spelled a word for Ziggy while asking what it was, and part of the answer said twice that it’s Greek (it’s actually Yiddish); Assistant gave me a more accurate answer about that and I think also gives better weather information.
This is a great suggestion. I’ve been using a Wyze Plug as a bridge between Video Doorbell v2 and Google Home for months since there’s still no native integration for that, AFAIK.
