I think it would be great to add a setting to disable the robotic voice that uses the speaker to say “The firmware has been updated” on the models of camera that have added it (in my case, the Wyze Cam OG). Thanks for considering!

This request for change seeks to allow users the ability to disable Cam OG announcements and optionally adjust volume. Applies to any other current and future cam models that support announcements other than cam setup announcements. Please reference “Wyze Vacuum Sounds -Ability to lower/disable volume” for an example of similar change request that has been successfully implemented for Robot Vacuum.
I just set up a new Wyze Cam OG and noticed that when I proceeded to update the firmware, it announced the firmware update with the voice that I thought was normally reserved just for the “Ready to connect” purpose of helping during initial setup.
Is there any setting to disable this? And is this camera model-specific or how it is on the latest firmware for all the cameras? I ask because I use a Wyze Cam v3 as a baby monitor and would hate to accidentally update the firmware during my kid’s sleep or otherwise when he is in the room—it would be quite scary to hear that loud robotic voice unexpectedly.
I agree. I don’t understand why anyone would think that every end user would want this permanently enabled. Just update the firmware silently. You’re not my friend, camera, you don’t need to talk to me just because you can!
WYZE support can you please update us on this change? I really want it too. It’s extremely annoying and startles the family when updating the OG Cam. It needs to have a disable feature.
This stupid announcement just woke up my 1.5 year old at 1AM. The camera was acting funny, and it needed to be updated, ideally in order to resolve the issues it was having. I’m livid knowing that there isn’t any solution to this, and that this speaker could have any number of spoken announcements that could wake up my daughter in the future. I have no reason to assume otherwise, since there is obviously no indication anywhere that it is going to yell out every time it does something.
