Sensor Status

Is there a way to check status of sensors and ask through alexa and she will let you know the status of the sensors open or closed.?

I can check the status of your sensors on the homepage of the Wyze app. If you have Alexa just ask Alexa what is the status of devices name I used backwoods . She just told me back door is closed lights off. because I have it set that when the door opens the light comes on outside

Can you set a timer on how long sensors are open

Yes you will have to do a schedule and automation rule. It’s a little gear icon in the top right and it’ll take you to another page. Their select schedules and automations. It will take you to another page. Hit the + in the top right corner to start your rule. And again you’ll go to another page. Select device trigger. Get it whatever name you want. For device trigger select the sensor that you want to use for this particular application make sure it’s the right sensor. Then you’ll get four options opens, closes, has been open for, has been closed for.
If you select has been open for it will give you a timeframe and if you select has been closed for it will give you a timeframe. If you select opens and closes it’s just immediate.

If you want to do something then you select action and what say a lightbulb And where do you want to turn it on or off and then there are other settings that can continue to go on you can have it set to go on a 4 o’clock at night go off at 7 o’clock in the morning you can select days. Do you have any other questions just keep posting and I’ll keep answering.

Question If sensor is open over 1 hour to or a allotted time, alert notification is executed. Any Ideas how to set this up? like hooking up to a garage door after an hour it sends a notification notice.

Yep on the first page select the device that is the trigger -your sensor. Then select the gear icon in the right hand corner. Then select notifications. And then select when you want to get notifications. Theres notifications for opens, closes, is left closed and is left open.Thinking you’re going to want to select is left open. Then you should get a notification that the door has been left open for however long you selected

Kudos @paindonthurt - you pretty much nailed this one!:star_struck: Great responses. The Alexa integration is well worth the ~$20 price tag for an Echo Dot in my opinion.
