RTSP for v3 and Pan v3

I’m able to access the flashed cam on both wyze beta app and wyze RTSP app just fine, only though I had to set it up through RTSP app but after that it’s fine everywhere

I can’t, maybe I’m doing something wrong :rofl:Android, s24 Ultra, I can only access flashed Pan V3s by the RTSP app. I can’t really access any other cams, like V4s thru the RTSP app. Easily anhow or fast. I’ve been using both apps for some time now.:person_shrugging:

Has anyone been able to figure out how to flash a pan v3 that was refusing to flash? I know when the firmware first came out some were having trouble (myself included) and I still have a cam refusing to flash/do the purple (blue red) light. I already tried most if not all the troubleshooting (reset to factory, etc.)

I had issues with mine, turns out it was my micro SD card. I was using a 64gb card, and for some reason that was too big.

I switched to a 512mb card and it was able to flash

I’ve been using a 32gb that worked for everything else. 32gb is the smallest I own, guess I should try buying a smaller card and try that?

I’d try that, I had one that would not flash, two did. I bought a $5 at the time, 32gb already fat32 and it flashed it. Also I found that if SD recording in left on in the camera you flash, it writes crap files to the SD when it starts up. Supposedly only the flash file is supposed to on the SD.:person_shrugging:

Went out and got an 8gb (smallest I could find), worked first try. Surprised that even a 32gb that worked on all other cams was the problem!

IMO, I think it’s preferable to use smaller than 32GB microSD to flash cameras. I have a really old Sandisk 2GB and Kingston 8GB microSD and I never have any problems flashing.

@WyzeEric @WyzeEric Thank you for the efforts towards RTSP! As a paying customer, I still want a local option to implement my own infrastructure & provide alternatives in an internet outage . I’m also excited for a completely difgerent reason. Local streams directly from cameras can help me diagnose why in-app streams frequently struggle to load. Wyze does not give end users direct access to camera logs (bummer), so it’s hard to diagnose problems.

Just wanted to thank you for getting this to the Beta Branch now. I tried it on another Camera Outside and updated it. Everything went fine…

VLC/Pot Player, etc works fine… But some reason again Blue Iris on a fresh install on a barebones computer vs even one on VM with windows, etc is not working yet my other camera’s that have similar hardware with RTSP like yours works fine. I don’t get it at this point makes no sense.,

Can we get any comment if battery cameras will see RTSP? I have a battery cam pro permanently plugged in to power 24/7 so I would like to have an option unlocked to use RTSP if running on direct power. It’s a very powerful camera that would be hindered by not having RTSP. Just put a agreement before enabling…

A couple of comments which may help others:

It seems to be absolutely critical to use a 32gb SD card. None of my others were successful in flashing the camera until I bought a 32gb card.

RTSP password choices are critical to successfully connecting from RTSP clients. The requirement for a special character is absurd IMHO and results in failure to connect in several apps. I was finally successful in choosing “=” and was successful in connecting with VLC and MotionEye.

This is a great addition to the product - I can now integrate with my Hubitat dashboards!

I had issues with 64GB too because windows native tool can’t format it to Fat32. I ended up using Rufus to format it and it worked for flashing my V3s at home. So 64GB does work but needs to be formatted first to FAT32 before loading the BIN file.

That’s interesting. I hadn’t considered using Rufus as a stand-alone formatting tool. I’ve used SD Memory Card Formatter to force FAT32 onto a larger card, but flashing attempts still failed for me until I used a smaller (32 GB) card.

Welcome to the Forum, @bajee11!

i have tried to setup the rtsp on 2 of my pan v3 cameras tried in rtsp and rtsps and cannot get any player to load the url it gave me in the app is there something else that needs to be done? anyone else get it to work?

Great news, thanks for the update and for sharing the beta access link. RTSP support on v3 and Pan v3 has been highly anticipated, so it’s good to see it finally rolling out, even in beta. Looking forward to testing it and providing feedback to help improve stability and performance.

Everything works well with my V3 cameras and HA integration, no lag and integrates nicely with live view on my dashboards. The only downside that I didn’t anticipate is, once you flash RTSP firmware into V3, events detection/notification no longer works in the Wyze app anymore! Since we use it as a baby cam, it’s a feature that we need to track different events at night and I don’t feel like doing it through HA. Just a heads up for those who don’t know!

I stand corrected. Latest firmware update 4.36.16.5654 corrected that issue. Events are now working on Wyze App for RTSP enabled V3 cams!

It is crazy to me how many are saying blueiris is not working now I need run the beta builds of blueiris so maybe that is why mine is working great with 6 wyze cameras and 7 reolink cameras. onto the RTSP settings for the WYZE app RTSPS MUST BE TURNED OFF! As for blueiris settings check my screenshot again RTSPS must be off so you are using rtsp:// test in VLC befor anything with rtsp://username:password@192.168.x.x/stream0 be sure to CHECK the boxes at the bottom to skip the dns and so on . on 1st load of the camera it seems to take like 40 sec to show of so set everything save and wait ! if it still not loading do not toutch settings in blueiris go to the wyze app then that camera and hit restart on the camera and again wait and see if blue iris loads.

Thank you for posting. A couple observations and outcomes:

  1. The rtsp source and directions page link for CamPan v3 shows 4.55.16.5055 as the version however, when downloading the zip file which contains the bin shows 4.50.16.5055. When updated, Device Info shows 4.50.16.5055.

  2. The latest (non-rtsp) firmware for Cam Pan v3 is 4.50.15.5336.

  3. I updated and was able to configure and use RTSP.

  4. I had my device firmware option set to automatic. Overnight it looks like it updated.

  5. While Device Info was displaying the 4.50.16.5055, I think it updated to the older port as now I get a -36 error code when trying to connect to the device.

  6. Reverting to the 4.50.15.5336 firmware through SD card does work but I can no longer put the RTSP firmware in to update as it gives me a -36 error code.

    Thoughts on next steps?
