I’m glad to hear it isn’t doing a FULL reboot. It is a little weird that it is even demporarily stopping the RTSP feed though. I agree with modifying the logic when RTSP is enabled.
At least it’s not force-restarting the camera…unless the restart logic still happens after a long enough interval (hopefully not).
We have added a new team member to the RTSP task force. Everyone say hello to @WyzeEric!!
Hello @WyzeEric ![]()
Hope to see RTSP for the V4 en V4PAN soon!
Welcome to the RTSP task force @WyzeEric! ![]()
Hey! Thanks for the warm welcome. Very excited to be a part of RTSP Task force to help to test as well as help internally at Wyze to bring RTSP to Wyze Cams. I am a big fan of open standards and also open source software too. I have been using a Wyze cam v3 with Home Assistant as a backup camera (with rtsp firmware) on my teardrop camper for years and would love to upgrade it to one of the newer Wyze cams in the future.
Welcome @WyzeEric , Glad you are on the RTSP Task Force. This is an exciting addition to the devices.
Welcome to the project, @WyzeEric! It’s always good to see someone with real-world experience involved in problem solving! ![]()
would anyone be open to a discord channel on the wyze server that we could all be on to work together quicker? would be nice to have a 1:1.

Try to setup generic Camera integration
Hi Guys,
today I installed the firmware after some struggles:
Pls use a 32GB FAT32 formatted microsd card!
Bigger microsd cards are not recognized in that programming bootloop - it just skips the firmware upgrade and boots system. Then, this microssd is just used as regular storage (for stream dump)
After using the correct 32GB FAT32 formatted microsd card Upgrade was successful. → check!
Operation on standard Wyze APP was still recognized and successful (of course no rtsp configuring) → check!
New firmware was working and documented in Device Info section of the standard App. → check!
Then I changed regular App to new Wyze_rtsp App, It wass immediately recognized → check!
There, I was able to configure rstp options including Password. → check!
I tried to installed my generic camery integration in Homeassistant.
Unfortunately you have to setup the http address for still video, means Pic.jpg.
By just setting up rstp and user/PW and digest handling (like the documentation describes), the testing procedure for the stream is successful, Auth works → check!
in that installation routine, there is no stream displayed (in that test form).
To end the installation properly you have to select the “All looks good” select before you can end the installation procedure (→ just do)
The documentation states about this issue it will work later.
In the dashboard of your desire pls add a picture glance card (you can cofigure camera in the lower area)
Stream displyed in HA → check!
Lets see how stable it is and if we can tune the performance in HA.
Thank you so much for getting this beta released!
I’ve got it working with my Pan V3 cameras and Home Assistant. Looks Great!
I also have a bunch of Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 models, but it’s unclear if there’s any firmware for those that supports RTSP. Do you know what my options are for that?
Three Options I see from my restricted knowledge (decending relevance):
1)I would hope, that it may be backported. Not confident, because all the Work may be aplied in newer Versions, but hope dies last, In that case wait.
It would be also a good time, to consider, just upgrading the cameras to V3/V4 in time, especially when Wyze announces explizit compatibility in newer Versions.

Go for search of the old Firmware which was able to drive rtsp experimental. I dont put that option first, because wyze discontinued the vendor download option. So there may be struggles. Dont know either If this works for your V2. Just check, Google is your friend.

I didnt had success last week with any other solution (egg docker wyze bridge) which reengineers and redirects the data stream. Sorry to say that in direction of those people that developed this intellectual outstanding Software Bridges, but in honest opinion, periodic breakdowns while upgrading Firmware, results in now way in a server surveilance environment. And dont blame wyze for that. They are hussled to make the System secure, they cant stop implementing new features, to just let Community continue their gameplans.
Personal Note why I go the struggles with this new Firmware Beta:
I love the Design of especially the Pan. The Implementation of privacy Mode ist mostly unique! Just flapping the Lens is an extra ordinary Feature! Even first attending guests in my liveng rooms, feel well and dont have any issues with that cam in privacy Mode. They dont feel sniffed out which ist great!
Once the camera is set up, will RTSP work on a network that is isolated from the internet? I would like to use the camera in a remote location.
Also, it would be nice if the app itself could be used without the camera without internet access.
Depends, sorta, remote access can be setup several ways.
I subscribe to Nabu Casa cloud for Home Assistant remote access and have no issues viewing my Reolink camera in there remotely.
If your not using Home Assistant but some other software there is still probably a way.
I would presume the same is possible for Wyze RTSP if I would’ve been able to get 3 Pan V3s to work in Frigate.
I reverted them back to stock Beta firmware and gave up, after days & days of frustration and deleted the RTSP app, causing resource issues on my phone.
I don’t have an answer to your question, but your username makes me laugh, because I’m hoping that your first name is “Raymond”. ![]()
Welcome to the Forum, @MrLuxuryYacht! ![]()
My first isn’t Raymond but my last name is pronounced in the traditional manner ![]()

camv3 RTSP working no issues.
Panv3, complete disaster. Can’t live monitor or RTSP to it.
WyZE APP keeps saying Failed to Connect Error code -36My AP says it is connected and had perfect signal. Flashed back to stock and it is ok. Flashed RTSP beta again and right back to same issue.
I had one of three Pan V3s streaming to Frigate but it failed agter power blips. One wouldn’t flash at all. one wouldn’t stream at all, VLC yes, but no where else.
Also had error 36 after flashing, would open in RTSP app but not in stock Beta app, b727.
I flashed them all back, did my RTSP flashing with a 64gb SD, they’re all saying use 32gb, so I ordered one.![]()
One more attempt on one Pan v3 then I’m back to waiting again.
So I’ve done a little more experimentation.
- Successfully camera to beta firmware on Pan V3
- Installed beta app on my iPhone 16 Pro running iOS 26.1
- Connected camera to a hot spot created by a Raspberry Pi 4 that is also connected to the internet with Ethernet (this hotspot is usually used in a remote location that does not have internet access). Can see stream from camera in the beta app.
- Set up RTSP in app (aside: What’s going on with the odd special character requirements for the password? Some of the allowable characters can mess up command line commands, I think)
- A lot of trouble getting RTSP to work with VLC on Mac Mini M4 Pro with Tahoe 26.1 connected to RPi hotspot. Flukily got it to work once after a power cycle of the camera (I think-I wasn’t being very systematic)
- Tried FFmpeg from the command line and was able to connect to the camera and see the stream.
- Disconnected ethernet from RPi and stream continued.
- Killed FFmpeg and started it again from the command line. Can see the stream.
- Disconnected and reconnected camera power.
- Cannot connect to RTSP stream.
- Reconnect ethernet to RPi
- Try FFmpeg from command line. RTSP stream works.
Is a connection to the internet access required to make an initial connection after power up? If so why is this necessary? Will this RTSP without internet access be enabled?
I saw on another thread from @WyzeDave that rtsp firmware was going to be available without the need for sd card flashing on 12/1 for beta. Anyone know if this is still the plan? I’m seeing no new firmware updates for pan v3.
