RTSP BETA RELEASE FOR v3 and Pan v3!

update- seems the rtsp fw doesn’t like 2 of my wireless ap, tenda and asus router, even though other wyze cams with no rtsp firmware work fine on them, v3 and v3pan with rtsp seem to work fine on the ginet mt 6000, distance to the ap’s doesnt make a difference. the ability to change wireless aps on the app is awesome btw

@carverofchoice you mentioned going into the app to opt in to beta (under account). When I do this, on either the main app or the rtsp app I don’t see this beta program link. Am I missing something?

I manually updated one of my 8 cams yesterday to rtsp beta but if I could do it OTA that would be way better for the others. Appreciate it

fyi, working substream url is stream1.

→ Select “Account” Tab
→ Select “About” Card at the very bottom just above “Log Out”
→ Select “Beta Program” Card
→ Now Enroll in Beta Firmware and select the Cameras you want to be able to get Beta Firmware for.

Currently only the Cam V3 and Pan V3 have RTSP available. If you have V3 Pro and Pan V2 and Cam V4, you might want to select those because we were told those are almost ready for Beta.

That should enable you being able to get beta firmware OTA as it comes available.

I personally just enroll ALL my devices into Beta, but I understand Beta means that I’m more likely to find bugs I’ll need to report so they can resolve them before they go public, but I like helping with that.

Anyway, once you’re enrolled in Beta you should be able to try to update the firmware OTA now.

If you’re still having problems, read this page and follow these steps too:

It’s possible that sometimes they will restrict some beta firmware to only be available if you are also enrolled in and running the latest Beta App. So if you allowed your cameras to get the Beta Firmware, but you’re still not seeing the new firmware available, they may have locked it down to only show up for those using the latest beta app. That’s not usually necessary for most Beta firmware, but there are exceptions once in a while, especially if the new feature requires an update in the app GUI and the production App doesn’t have it available yet.

I hope that helps @Roach

Thanks, I was able to find it. I ended up upgrading all 8 of my V3s and got them in Frigate. One thing I noticed is sometimes a large delay in the feed, like 1-2min. Not sure if anything I should be doing to resolve those? I saw something somewhere about the cache? Not sure. Appreciate any guidance you or this forum may have. Thanks

I haven’t personally looked into the delay reports and workarounds, so I’m currently no help there. Hopefully someone else will chime in on the issue. I planned to look into such things more after V3Pro and V4 are supported because I have lots of those ready to use.

no delay on blue iris, but having video streaming issues like artifacts and cut outs

FINALLY! I’ve been holding out on buying more for the last three years just because of this, but until it’s out of Beta, I’m not committing yet because the reolinks look appealing with it natively built in. I’ll try this on my existing ones.

Extremely psyched that this is a thing now I’ve gotten fairly deep into HA as a longtime and repeated Wyze customer. Can’t wait for v3pro and v4 support, which I hope can come in months, rather than with a long delay.

Quick heads up that people more savvy than me may think to be completely obvious: static IPs for your cameras seem to be a requirement, because if they ever change then the rtsps stream address no longer works.

I still have not found where you can download the bata test for Version: 4.50.16.5654….I know……I’m loosing my mind!

update within app to latest beta rtsp once initially installed, if enrolled in beta program u can install within official wyze app w/out the need to manually flash rtsp fw. manual flash fw from link below

You have to enrol in Beta Program to get the Beta Firmwares. Once you do the firmware becomes available for download.

u dont have to enroll, u can flash w/sdcard the beta rtsp fw from here https://wyze-beta.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/rtsp.html and then theres one update u can do via the app. if enrolled in beta the rtsp will be available via the app, no sdcard needed

That’s now the production version:

Note:

It may be possible to get that same version from the beta channel by enabling that in the app ( Account ➜ About ➜ Beta Program ➜ select device types you want to enable for beta firmware download), but I don’t know if that would get you there any more quickly or not. Please be aware that you also want to be current with the production app (at least v3.9+).

Right, but that requires physical access to the camera. Also as @Crease mentioned above, the RTSP firmware is public now and should appear in the app as long as the app is up to date.

Any official update on the RTSP going GA or expanding the beta firmware to other models?
The v3 RTSP is working fine for me in Android and also as a generic camera in HomeAssistant.
It would be great to give access back to the old RTSP firmware on the v2s and also expand RTSP for newer cams.

Here is the very old note on v2 RTSP Firmware going away https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026245231-Wyze-Cam-RTSP

And if the beta will continue with required feedback and incremental improvements before GA it would be good to move into Centercode for official tracking and resources.

They said v3 CAM and PAN is now released to everyone.

Shouldn’t I be able to use RTSP? It says “You will need t update the device firmware to use this feature.
