I plan to purchase one this spring. Will probably get a Landroid. If Wyze came out with one I would get it instead. As has been mentioned it would sure be nice to know if a Wyze lawnmower is in the works or not.
I just bought an electric self-propelled mower and thought why am I here? Itās halfway to doing all the work itself. Seriously, just grab the lidar from the Wyze Robot Vacuum (whatās a Roomba?) and make the wheels turn. Give it a recharge station and optional solar panel. Add the Wyze Rain Detector so that it doesnāt go out during downpours. With the app it will never need some perimeter wire. An alert and shut off if someone tries to lift it during operation. Maybe a USB port to plug in a WyzeCam soās I can yell at the dog thatās chasing it. Iāll pay $500 for one of those. Make mine black.
Do it.
Do it.
Mine never leaves the house or falls into the garage. How is yours doing it?
Yes!!!
Given the time of year it is, we recognize the real value a Wyze Robotic Lawn Mower could be for us. It has to have large wheels to move smoothly over lawn terrains. The duration also needs to be 60 min or longer to be reasonable.
I am willing to be a Beta tester if Wyze needs one,
I would have to trust Wyze a whole lot more to set off a killer lawn mower robot in my backyard.
I used both manual lawn mower and robotic lawn mower. I must say robotic lawn mower is far best then conventional lawn mower.
I invested in this product: Novabot. I believe it will get delivered before Spring 2023. No perimeter wire and Nova Vision to navigate when GNSS is less reliable. Fingers crossed. Price seems higher now than when I invested in November 2021. Theyāre starting to provide lots of testing videos now for the backers group. It should be next generation beyond Segway and Luba, which strictly use RTK-GNSS for navigation and (optional for Navimow) simple collision avoidance radar/sonar.
I would really love to see this looked into after āthe year of the cameraā is over. Wyze could easily leverage the opensource OpenMower Project to keep costs pretty low:
I will wait for RLM v2.1. I need to learn if the robot mower could be hacked and go after the neighborās cat or rose bush.
Currently I have six guys mow my yard and edge and trim hedges within 20 minutes. I would like to keep them employed.
Now if Wyze could make a Johnny Scissor Hands ā¦
I just wanted to bump this thread. I would hope something like this is on the Wyze radar.
Robot Lawn Mower!!!
This idea is a game changer. A reel lawnmower like the Oasa R1. Use the same wizardry thats in the robot vaccum. With wifi capability, but able to operate on its own after mapping once. Reel lawnmowers are much better for the grass than traditional blade lawnmowers. The Oasa R1 is the only one of its kind and priced well against competition. I know Wyze can make a very high quantity product and save people dying trying to mow in the summer heat. What do you all think?
My father was a worry wart and didnāt like to keep gas in the garage.
I remember cutting ALL the grass with a reel mower. My mom convinced my sisters that pushing it would increase their bust size.
He bought an electric lawnmower with Nicad batteries that didnāt last long. I finally convinced him to buy a gas mower because the car was also in the garage and had 20x the gas in it.
Wow. Luckily, I used gas and bagged up all of the grass for disposal. Dad used to make me cut the grass every fourth day in a Florida summer.
When I turned 55, I found the joy of hiring a yard cutting service. A squad of guys mows, edges, and trim trees and bushes within 20 minutes. They also remove all debris. It is a service I am glad to pay for someone else to do.
Iām not as worried about the danger as the fact that I hate everything smelling like gas (hands, the mower, etc) and gas motors take a lot more upkeep/maintenance, Not to mention the extra inconvenience. I used a gas mower growing up = never again.
If I had to have a gas mower, Iād 100% just rip out my whole lawn instead.
Sometime in the next few years I will definitely be buying an electric robotic lawn mower. Iāve almost done it multiple times in the last few yearsā¦I keep holding off because they keep getting so much better and more competitive and affordable, but Iāll get one relatively soon. Will probably get one for my dad/mom eventually too.
I predict that by sometime in the 30s, with very few exceptions, very few households will have a human walking behind or driving inside a lawn mower.
Donāt wash your hands in gas.
I keep 20 gallons of gas in the garage for my generator during hurricane season. I donāt notice the smell. I even park my car in the garage. Maybe good ventilation?
Hiring lawn service helps. I got rid of my lawn mower.
I think I am the only one to park my car in the garage, in my neighborhood. Itās sad to see people put $1500 of junk in the garage, but park a $30,000 to 50,000 car outside.
people put $1500 of junk in the garage
Haha, Guilty. weāve been doing a lot of remodeling in the house and needed space to do a lot of wood cutting and epoxy testing, and a lot more, but havenāt had room for our cars since then. Hopefully weāll get that fixed before winter comes.
Though, I donāt generally buy expensive vehicles anyway and am not very worried about the theft/damage anyway. For me, the garage is mostly for comfort to keep it from having the sun heat up the car in the Summer and winter covering it in snow and ice. More comfort than security. My B-in-Lās expensive boat is more likely to get targeted than my cars (1 I bought at a place that specializes in cars written off from excessive hail damage, and the other was salvaged after being totaled by an insurance companyā¦I never have and never will buy new cars).
Donāt wash your hands in gas.
Seems impossible. I canāt even fill up my car at a gas station without hands, etc smelling like gas. Maybe my nose is sensitive to it or something. Opening a gas tank lid makes it smell like smoke. Gas is just soā¦gassyā¦itās like it spreads everywhere fast. Bleh.
Hiring lawn service helps
Heh, I tried this a few times. Every time I do, they break stuff (sprinklers and other things). Its just easier (and cheaper) to do myself. Thatās why Iād love a robot lawnmower that I could TRAIN how to do a route and what to avoid, etc.
We finally bit the bullet last year and invested in a Husqvarna solution. It was the 450X EPOS. I say investment because you can buy a zero turn riding mower for a little more. I did NOT want to get one that was dependent on wires, so I waited until Husqvarna had a working consumer version that was wire free.
Pros:
Cuts the whole yard (1/2 acre) in about 8 hours (an hour of that is the mid-cut recharging).
Totally wireless solution now (no buried wire to maintain)
No Gas to add
No Oil to check/change
No air filter to clean/change
No battery to maintain (if you own a zero turn)
No fighting to start it with starter spray, jumping off, cleaning carburetor, etc
No spark plugs to clean/change
No tires to inflate (if you own a zero turn)
No blades to sharpen (change the 3 blades after a month of daily cuttings)
You can mow at night (I do not, but many do)
When it breaks it is easy to load up in a sedan and bring to āthe shopā!
Does not leave ruts in your yard like a zero turn does when mowing soggy ground
Ultra-quiet operation (this was one of the biggest selling points for me)
Easy schedule changing
Easy obstacle mapping
Geofencing for theft prevention (able to locate stolen automower via the App).
One button emergency shutdown on top of unit.
Water resistant (you donāt have to worry about the rain, but quality of cut suffers).
The positioning station mounts to the side of the house.
The sonar works well at avoiding people/pets in the yard.
The charging station works well, but if you put it in the yard, you need to buy the cover.
Has several cutting patterns to choose from, I just use the vertical striping which looks great!
You can easily cut your grass every day if you have less than an acre.
The 450X EPOS is rated to āmaintainā 2.5 acres, but it will take more than one day to finish it (unless you let it cut at night).
CONS:
Costs way too much (they are coming down in price, especially the competition)
Does not mulch leaves.
Constantly worry about theft.
Constantly worry about people running over it when close to the road (had to move it back about a yard because of this).
Highly recommended to pick up any debris before launch (bones, sticks, poop, etc).
Firmware/Android App needs work.
No camera on our unit (tried a Wyze V3 and V4 but it seems to interfere with it).
Still have to weed eat around obstacles and perimeter
Obstacles add a LOT of time to the cutting (I have about 15 mapped)
There is no way to turn off edging around obstacles in the current android app.
Other Thoughts:
The unit uses 4g to communicate (says it comes with 10 years of 4g service)?
It allows you to drive it around with bluetooth using your phone to set your paths.
You also set it up to connect to your WIFI to change settings/schedule.
If your yard is flat with no obstacles, this is a great solution.
We have centipede grass, but If you have tall fescue grass, they offer a version that cuts higher.
If you have lots of flower beds, trees, dogs, fences, you need to think hard before the purchase and do a LOT of homework.
Good Luck!
Constantly worry about theft.
Our next door neighbor was a Husqvarna dealer. I asked about theft. He said if you pick it up it will squeal like a stuck pig. They also have something to let the owner know where it is, because the police had to go to someoneās house to retrieve a stolen robot mower.

Thatās a good use for your garage.
For me, the garage is mostly for comfort to keep it from having the sun heat up the car in the Summer and winter covering it in snow and ice. More comfort than security.
Comfort, yes. I love when it is raining ourside, I can drive into a dry space to unload groceries. As far as security goes, I like to have a place to store my car during a hurricane .
It also doesnāt indicate if someone is home or not. Halloween visitors are few since there is no car in the driveway.
Though, I donāt generally buy expensive vehicles anyway and am not very worried about the theft/damage anyway.
I lease, so there is another story for another time.
Seems impossible. I canāt even fill up my car at a gas station without hands, etc smelling like gas.
I see some gas stations offer a disposable glove , if it matters. Maybe go electric?
Every time I do, they break stuff (sprinklers and other things).
Bummer. No sprinkers and no damage so far in multiple years. I consider it the best money spent. Besides the yard, they also edge/clean sidewalks, trim bushes and take out debris. They also spray weed killer in the flower beds. They also skim my pool for anything that entered the pool during their visit. Now if a portable lawn mower could do all that while I am staying in the air-conditioned house, I would have to reconsider. versus
I knew about the geofence, so I should add that to the PROS!
If it is stolen, I am sure they would put mine into a Faraday cage to prevent GPS locating it
