I have an original Wyze robot vacuum from its 2020 launch. After a couple of years of not using it following a move, I’ve recently started it up again, and it’s working great.
My issue is with firmware updates. I’d like to use the multi-floor mapping feature in our new two-story home, but the vacuum is stuck on firmware version 1.6.114 (which doesn’t support multiple floors) and refuses to update. When I say “stuck” I mean that when I go to the firmware menu, it shows that the device is fully up-to-date. I haven’t found any specific information about this particular version (1.6.114), though I’ve seen many users report update problems with similar versions like 1.6.113 and 1.6.173.
I’ve already tried all the recommended troubleshooting steps:
- Rebooting the vacuum
- Logging out of and back into the Wyze app
- Ensuring the Wyze app is up-to-date (I’m on an iOS device)
- Checking location and local network permissions
- Performing a factory reset on the vacuum
- Confirming the vacuum is on the charger and actively charging
I also contacted Wyze support. After repeating all these steps with them, they informed me that my device is out of warranty and their only solution is for me to purchase a new vacuum. I own many other Wyze devices (cameras, sensors, bulbs, outlets, etc) and for the most part they have served us well, but if this is the kind of treatment I can expect from their support team, I will definitely not be buying more Wyze products.
I’m posting here in the hopes that someone in the Wyze community might have encountered a similar issue with firmware 1.6.114 or has found a workaround to successfully update older vacuums. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
