Reset question

Hi!

When someone buys a new Wyze camera, is it recommended to reset it manually (removing the memory card, pressing the reset button)? Or does deleting it from one account and re-adding it to another perform the same reset process? Also, does the “Service Reset” button in the settings do the same as the memory card reset?

Reset service just gets the cloud services to work correctly. If you buy a new cam just set it up on the account, if you buy a used cam (New to you) just do a factory reset and set it up as new on a different account.

Thank you! So it is highly recommended to reset after purchase?

Is the camera new (Never been used) or new to you?

This is a very good question! I bought it on Amazon, who knows? God only knows. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I installed as new without reset. No issues since 2019.

I have ordered from Amazon before something that was packaged as if it were new, but in reality, it was used, with a worn and muddy casing. The second two looked new, but to be safe, I reset both of them.

Do what makes you feel happy. Verify activation Date. Return if needed,

That seems totally reasonable. Last year I decided to save a couple of bucks on a range extender by ordering from Amazon Resale, and out of curiosity I plugged it in and connected to it straight out of the box. I saw that they hadn’t done any kind of reset back at Amazon, nor had the previous purchaser, because it was still configured with the original owner’s CenturyLink SSID. I looked up the reset procedure and started over as if it was a new device, and it’s performed as expected.

I don’t want to return it! There’s no such thing as a perfect product, and unfortunately, many people return everything, which then has to be resold.

I could understand that, but if you bought t as new and got something used, I’d return it. Ebay you take chances. You shouldn’t have to with Amazon.

I bought what I was told to me as a brand new phone, years ago. It had dust in the earpiece and phone numbers in the phone book. I found the owner’s number and complained that he sold me an old flipphone. He sent me $20 through paypal. That was acceptable and move on. Amazon should not sell old products, unless you know there are old or refurbs.

My laptop is an i7 Dell refurb and I love it for the price.

I agree, which is why my Amazon Resale purchase met my expectations. :+1:

I used to live convenient to a Gateway 2000 shop where they sold factory refurbished machines and bought a couple of PCs that way back in the day.

The main issue is that the warranty starts on the date it was activated first. So if that was months ago that could affect you. I guess if you have proof of purchase then maybe they’ll accept that, not positive.

But yes with that particular camera, I would do a factory reset on it before using it. The others that are sealed and do not show any evidence of being used, shouldn’t be necessary. Won’t hurt anything though.

Otherwise I’m happy with the product because it’s small, has a nice sharp image, gets regular updates and is easy to use. But I also have a eufy camera outside on the balcony.
