I have a v2 cam where the detection zone setting stopped working a few months ago (won’t save). The detection zone setting on my v3 cams continues to work fine. The v2 problem seems to be a server-side problem that Wyze has encountered and fixed on many previous occasions, but in this case they are unable to help (the problem is there both in the old app and the new app on multiple phones, resetting the cam and removing and re-installing the app doesn’t help). Their only suggestion is remove the cam from my account and re-add as a new cam, possibly with factory reset (although I don’t think that will help with a server side issue).
The issue is that I’ve read many posts from people who lost functionality when they removed and re-added a cam. Either they couldn’t re-add the cam to CamPlus Lite, or the free person detection no longer worked. I can see the screen in the app where there is a tick-mark next to each of my cams for CamPlus Lite, and I would hope that the re-added cam would appear there, but I don’t know exactly why the other posters had problems. There’s no mention of the free person detection anywhere, although all my cams have it.
What is the current state of issues with removing and re-adding an old cam? Is there a known problem, or did these people have unique individual issues? Has anyone done this operation successfully under the same circumstances?
If you are trying to add the cam as a new device to CP Lite the issue may come up based on the number of cams you got CP lite for originally, When I got my CP lite it asked for how many cameras so I put 4, That means I could only have 4 cams on Lite, not add more. Maybe you need to look on the web site on your account and see what it says in your Services> Cam Plus Lite and how many cams you set it up for originally… If you originally signed up and put 2 cams, you may need to delete the V2 from lite, If you delete the V2 you will then have one more (spot) to add the cam back to.
I don’t no if @WalshDP has unlimited ? If just regular Cam Plus it shouldn’t be an issue, I never had an issue switching removing and adding cams to Lite prior to changing to Unlimited.
I finally cancelled my Cam Unlimited subscription…too much cost for too little benefit. Once the subscription fully expired I was able to assign nearly all my cameras to CamPlus LIte (all except a Pan V2, I mostly have V2 and V3 cameras). Lite is adequate for my needs…Person Detection, Alexa notifications, etc. Limited to12 second clips, but that should be fine with the sd cards in each camera.
That is a good news. I have set the detection to one on all my four cameras so they don’t take the whole network down. I doubt they detect anything at that setting. Hopefully my new broadband will remedy that. In any case, just out of principle I will not renew my subscription to Unlimited. I know I’ve said that before, I just want to reiterate my stand in case @WyzeMatt or @WyzeDongsheng read this thread.
