Red light comes on at random

You may want to check that your V3 is operating correctly and uploading Event Videos to the cloud on Motion Activation. Staying blue indicates it is not working properly.

Make sure you are producing motion in front of the cam to initiate an upload. Recording to the SD Card will not produce any change in light status. Only a motion activated cloud upload will produce a light status change.

My light stays Blue during all Event video uploads (Person Pet or any Motion). I can go back an view the cloud video showing a Blue light and get a Person Notification. My v3 light only turns Red when I view the cam. On v3 firmware 4.36.9.139. Yes, I know it is weird.

BTW, I normally have the Status Light off as I am shooting through double pane windows. I turned the lights on last night specifically to test them for this forum thread.

Interesting. I am operating my V3 cams on 4.36.10.3406 and the red light changes from blue to red on every motion activation event upload. I also tested for this thread.

Wondering if that may have been a FW bug that was overlooked in 4.36.9.139

I just tested my one v3 on 4.36.10.3406. The light turns Red when uploading motion video and when I view it. SlabSlayer, if you manually flash a v3 back to 4.36.9.139, then I know I have peaked your curiousity.

Tempted. But I’m going to take your word for it. I still have an extra V3 on the bench if I needed to though. Because that bug already appears to have been fixed in the newer FW, it isn’t going to do much to verify it since there isn’t anything more to be done except to ask Wyze to flip the OTA update switch for the .10 FW.

But, what you have verified is that there is a distinct possibility that a version of the PanV2 FW is also buggy in the correct operation of the status lights.

I just looked detect event was checked. I do not have push notifications enabled.

I used a stopwatch. The red light comes on for 10 seconds, and the red light comes.on about every 5 mins.

If the Detects Motion in Event Recording is toggled on, the Cam IS set to upload Motion Events to the cloud on Motion Activation. Every time it is motion activated when the 5 min cooldown lockout is not in place, it will upload and turn red.

If you go to the Events Tab and clear all filters, you will see all the Cloud Motion Events that have been uploaded to the servers over the last 14 days whenever your motion has turned the light red.

Every time you move in front of the cam, it will try to upload to the server. If it is within the 5 min cooldown lockout, it will not succeed and the light will not turn red. Only after the 5 min has expired will it again upload a motion activated event when the light turns red. This restarts the 5 min cooldown lockout clock.

The only way to prevent your motion from activating an event upload to the cloud and turning the light red is to toggle off the Detects Motion setting. Doing so will stop all uploads and you will get no events in the events tab.

Turn that option off and then monitor the cam for a red light. It should only come on at that point if you are Live Streaming.

Makes sense. Testing now.

I believe I have isolated the combination that causes the the Status Light to stay Blue during Event video uploads. A v3 on firmware 4.36.9.139 on Cam Plus.

I moved the v3 to Cam Plus Lite and now the light turns Red during uploads.

Scince I have disabled event motion, I have not seen the red light come on.

The cam is operating normally then. The red light was coming on from your motion activating uploads to the cloud server.
