Recording to the cloud

How do I record to the cloud? There is nothing having to do with cloud recording in the notifications tab, or events tab.

Go to camera settings, Event Recording, activate Detects Motion and set the schedule. Event clips of 12 seconds will record to the cloud.

Welcome to the community, @wily5150.

There are three kinds of recording available in the app:

  1. Cloud motion/sound event: These are enabled in the camera settings (gear icon) > Event Recording. Also make sure that the Detection Zone under Detection Settings is not missing the area of motion. These are played back in the Events tab.
  2. microSD card recording: This is enabled in Advanced Settings > Local Storage and can be set to continuous or event only recording. This is played back by pressing the View Playback button on the live stream. This is completely independent from #1.
  3. Record button on live stream or playback: This saves to your phone’s camera roll or gallery, in real time, whatever is being played in the live stream or view playback. Note that it isn’t available when playing cloud events. It is viewed by tapping More and then the Album button, or by leaving the Wyze app and viewing the Wyze album in your phone’s photos or gallery app. This type of recording ceases when you leave the Wyze app.

More info on setting these up can be found in the Support Site.

Everything is setup the way you said, but nothing is recording. And there is no view recording in the events tab. Do I need to set it up online to get it to record?

Can you post screen shots of what your seeing and what your setting are? Maybe someone can help and see something that is askew.

The recordings should show up here?

I dropped the sensitivity down to roughly 20 due to us having a cat, and a ceiling fan. Could that be the reason it’s not recording?

That’s some of the settings yes, but the event videos should be in the events tab accessable from the main page. Anything there?

When the Wyze Cam detects motion or sound, it starts recording a 12-second video that is stored on the AWS cloud via end-to-end encryption. Event Video can be viewed for up to 14 days through the Wyze app. After 14 days, Event Videos are deleted and cannot be recovered.

All Wyze Cam’s include the free 14-day cloud storage for 12-second Event Videos.

Note: Event videos have a 5-minute cooldown period for the 12-second videos. What this means is if there is constant motion detected, the camera will record a 12-second Event Video every 5 minutes and save that video to the cloud for 14 days.

The optional Complete Motion Capture service will remove the cooldown period and allow your Wyze Cam to record as long as there is motion detected. Learn more about this added feature by clicking here.

If you have a microSD card then you’ve got even more options for storing and recording video. Learn more about recording with a microSD card.

Viewing Event Videos

One way to view your Event Videos is to click on the Push Notification that was sent to your smartphone or device. Clicking the notification will open up the Wyze app and take you to the Event Video.

Another way is to tap the Events tab of the Wyze app to see a list of Event Videos.

You can then scroll through the list of Event Videos by all your Wyze Cam’s. To look at any of the videos, click the still image from that video. It will take you to a page to watch the video.

Filter by Device

Use the Filter to only show Event Videos from a single device by tapping the […] menu dropdown in the upper right corner.

Saving and Sharing Videos

You can also save and download individual Event Videos. To do this, tap on the Event Video you are interested in. On the top right of that Event Video you will see Share share.jpg and Download download.png icon .
