I have an Wyze Outdoor Camera system installed in my RV. I’d like to power if off of the 12V system so that when I’m not connected to shore power it will still work. I have an internet system that runs off the RV batteries so I will have connectivity. What do I need in order to power this? On the base it says “12V 1A”. Will a step down 12V->5V 1A converter like the one below work? Or is there a better solution for this somewhere…? Thanks!

I don’t own a Wyze Cam Outdoor, but if it says 12 volt 1 Amp on the unit that is what it runs on. So a that 5 volt output regulator would not work.
Looking at pictures of the WCO the base station power supply has an output of 12 volts which plugs into base station.
Since it runs on 12 volts you can run from the 12 volt power system directly, just make sure not to get polarity incorrect. The center pin is positive (+) Red, and the outer is negative (-) Black
You want a 12v to USB adapter…

It sounds like I just want to chop the end off a normal USB cable and wire it in directly because the RV is already 12 V and the wall plug adapter says on it that it is “Output: 12V 1A” .
@lluppes - The connector on that wall transformer is not a USB connector.
The Wall power supply that is 12v 1A has a “Barrel Connector” that plugs into the WCO Base.
Not sure on the size “Barrel Connector” that the WCO base accepts as I do not have one.
If you measure the diameter of the barrel and center pin size then you’ll just need to get a cable with that size “Barrel Connector” and wire the other end to battery.
Myself I would add a LVD (Low Voltage Disconnect) device to protect batteries from draining too low though.

@pezoba No worries - they are all slightly different. The Outdoor Cams are unique in that they are battery powered, but have to have a base unit that they talk to that actually does all the cloud interactions for them.
Perfect thread, am working on the same setup… namely powering the Wyze Base Station with an automotive battery. FYI: the barrel size of my Base Station power supply is 4mmx1.7mm.
My question is this: Does the Base Station have a power regulator, and if so, what power range can it handle? This is important, as an automotive battery can swing from 11.6 to 13.6.
If the Base Station requires a steady 12v, then the easiest solution I see is using a couple converters to go from the automotive battery(11.6-13.6) → 5v usb → 12v for the Base Station.
Good question, not sure. I did buy a barrel connector with a tail and wire it directly into my 12V power and it seems to be working fine.
Most likely the base has a regulator considering it uses a cheap wall transformer, and should handle 11.6-13.8…
But if you want exactly 12.00 volts all the time:
You could hard wire in a Auto-Buck/Boost Regulator and set it to 12.00 Volts on the output and it will maintain that 12 volts well beyong the 11.6 to 13.6 volt range you specified.

Well… I got a decent solution to power the Wyze Base Station with a 12v battery.
Battery plugs in to a “12V to 5V 3A 15W DC Buck Converter Module” https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F9QYJV2
From the usb device, plug in “USB 5V to DC 12V 4mm x 1.7mm Power Cable” https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0923KC45R
This directly plugs into the Wyze Base Station. This gives you a steady 12v for the Base Station.
