The data loving analyst in me wants to just wholeheartedly agree and support this⊠While the contrarian and rational thinking side of me canât help but consider the counter point:
While itâs true that numbers themselves are neutral and factual, the interpretation of numbers can be subjective.
Counterpoint:
Numbers never lie, but they donât tell the whole truth either. Without context, numbers can be misleading. Itâs not the numbers that are at fault, but how they are presented and interpreted. For instance, statistical data can be cherry-picked to falsely support a particular argument, or the method of data collection can be biased, affecting the outcome (and often invalidating it). Therefore, itâs crucial to look beyond the numbers and understand the story they are trying to tell.
However, in this case, itâs still interesting.
Lies, damned lies, and linguisticsâŠ
Youâre such a cunning linguist.
The video explains a lot, but sometimes the variables are set in concrete, hence concrete variables.
End Users do not need to relearn the âwheelâ
I understand developers are eager to create the next âthingâ but that does not mean customers are looking to re-learn how to use something, that they already know how to use.
Iâve worked in IT for many years, but also realize business sense and customer satisfaction.
Example: customers dont want an NEWLY developed TV remote, that does the same thing as before, but have to learn how to use all the new buttons, just to do the same thing as before.
I would rather see Wyze give features back, that they took away, from say, Wyze Cam V3, no longer identifies âpersonâ, where as when I first purchased my V3âs it did.
I understand WHY Wyze did this, it is not right, taking away from customers, what they originally had.
The V3 recognizes a person or a friendly face. Do you have Cam Plus?
Very True, I honestly believe wyze does not pay tom much attention to these forums. For instance the Wyze beta firmware for the V3 has had an issue where it stops recording events for the past 3 months. Has been no input or changes in those months. The new app is horrible almost like they hired an outside company to start from scratch and not build off what they had going. Sure the cameras are cheap and great image quality, but the outages or server side issues, bad firmware, and app changes like this have me thinking of just moving back to ring. With your poll a little over 5 rating out of 30+ peopleâŠnot good
I should have said/stated
V3 âPersonâ detection, no longer works under Cam Plus Lite.
It use toâŠfor V3âs
Wyze is actually quite active with the new Beta App feedback in the forums. Even said they were addressing some of the most requested changes to Beta 1 of ver 3.0 because of what the community gave feedback on.
One of the co-founders is watching this thread and responding.
Just because you donât see them chiming in, doesnât mean they arenât watching. You should read more before commenting.
Wyze app 3.0 & Cam v4 Firmware Beta Test 6/3/2024 - Beta - Wyze Forum
Yeah OK, 2 things targeted and for the next Beta that honestly the devices sorting should have been there already. I have been activley reading the forum, As well as paying attention to the wyze v3 beta firmware that has not done anything in 3 months. Do you all also know the wyze app reaches out to China? Multiple tickets have been opened by different people and no answer is giving why. It still occurs in the beta app as well. Maybe they can listen and remove that as well.
I would like to make a recommendation
That Wyze focus more on Security
Reason I say this,
MANY larger companies are being âhitâ with breaches/ hacks etc in the last 3-6 months.
( Russia & especially China, preparing for when they take over Taiwan, they will hit U.S. infrastructure, businesses, gov, etc.)
Just in the last day or so ALL Dealerships nationwide have been taken down, due to hacking - 2nd time this has happened.
Prior to that, there is a LONG list of recent large data/secrutiy breaches.
There are ALWAYS more hackers trying to access or take down a company or network, and steal data, access infrastructure etc.
Then there are internal empployees trying to secure a company,
and keeps its customers secure.
AI ( Artificial Intelligence) is going to be a nightmare for company security, and trying to keep its data and customers secured.
For hackers, its like finding the Golden Nugget, as it will make it MUCH easier for Hackers to infiltrate businesses and their customerâs data. (In this case there security cams/equip.)
Once hackers are âInâ they could even BRICK the Wyze equipment.
Like what happedn to a recent Internet providerâs, 600,000+ customer routers,
that were âbrickedâ by hackers.
Google Headline
ââ Hacker Bricks 600,000 Routers In Just 72 Hours ââ
Security should ALWAYS be the #1 Constant Focus
for a company, and protecting their customers accounts and data.
Itâs more important the âNew App Featuresâ.
As there have been multiple companies
that have gone belly up, after data breaches/ hacks.
As it also brings lots of lawsuits by customers/business customers. That can financially overwhelm a company.
Just my 2 cents
Question/Comments? While you are editing things in the app, why limit the monitoring tab to 4 cams? And if more were able to be added, could they shrink in size and stay on the same page? Click to open. If not, swipe to more? Thatâs the type view I personally would like to see in tablet landscape for favorites also.
Reason there is a Limit to 4 cams, is due to bandwidth usage/performance.
If a person had 8 Cams on the monitoring tab, you would need a SmartPhone that has much more processing power, and memory, same holds true for ones network.
If person had alll their Cams on the monitoring tab, you would probably either crash the app, and would probably receive 1 cam view refresh view, per every 20-30 seconds or more.
There are limits to how many cams can be placed on the monitoring tab.
Its not an App issue, but bandwidth issue, and smartphone performance issue.
I will say I had ring previously and had 8 Cameras with them. On the home tab they would all show live view within a matter of seconds
@compserv111 - 100% agree on Security. They just forced 2FA on everyone and people reacted like their âlibertiesâ were being stripped. Seems to me they are definitely taking steps towards this. But keep in mind, the most massive companies on the internet have had issues. Facebook had a data leak and didnât tell anyone for 2 years? Equifax⊠go look that one up. Talk about leaking your data!!! Wyze isnât perfect. But, seems the largest juggernauts on the Internet are not fairing much better.
@sblavesc - How exactly do the cameraâs call home to China? Not just a vague âboogie manâ detail like it âcalls home to Chinaâ. Is it DNS, is a cert validation??? Has it been proven that data or anything else personal, is being re-directed to China?
Just a kudos. I have another system, for a little while yet, zigbee is replacing sensors, Wyze cams covers the rest theirs donât catch. Which is a lot when compared. Supposed to be security. I can tell you Wyze cams runs circles around them. Devs are here, co-owners watching some, doesnât get any better. Weâll, actually it does.
Had to delete and reinstall this app this morning, cam plus unlimited and events disappeared error 1, but on app reinstall came right back painlessly. First ever in a year I think.
Theirs, 1 or 2 events, Wyze 25. Theirs, ai is pathetic, zones are pathetic, battery cams, never again, expensive old tech, weak wifi antennas even with my mesh, all about money, and monitoring fees, etc. etc⊠I sound like Clark in Christmas Vacation.
Unless you can add some more home assistant compatibility. Seriously.
Every time I open my wyze app my router send a notification it blocked a connection to china. Only wyze can tell you what itâs for maybe they can chime in since they actively read these forums. Search these forums for Wyze calling to foreign IPs or reddit.
Hey maybe the co-founder will tell us? you think?
