I have 3 cams all with SD cards. I have a question about this new person detection. I’m confused on the 12 seconds of recording. If I have a sim card do I still need to sign up for the person detection and pay for it? I’m not recording to the cloud.
You don’t need person detection at all. Free cloud recording of motion events is still provided. But if you do want PD, Wyze’s version happens ONLY on their server (the “cloud”) and won’t get indicated on the videos stored to your local SD card. I think.

@Customer is right - the free 12 second event recording is still provided. That is cloud based. Your SD card will record either motion detection events only or continuously record. But if you want PD that requires the extra plan and is done on the cloud, not on your SD card storage.
CamPlus is also available as an optional premium service which provides cloud based continuous motion recording and PD both as one package.

I also want to point out that if you are getting 12-second videos in the event tab or notifications you are in fact recording to the cloud.
