Greetings,
Im using the pan v3 outdoors the main issue is dropping signal however I have a feeling its my internet provider. Is outside (sometimes in -0 weather) and about 35ish feet away from the router, in a basement, of a brick house. I suspect there’s a few issues. It works, and works good, just it drops signal often.
My other question is how do you delete footage on the wyze website? Is that a premium thing for the website and deleting clips is only available via the mobile app?
Bummer there’s no option to delete ahead of time. Out of curiosity, if you delete via the app - I don’t recall if you can/can’t, does it delete from the wyze site/server too?
You should be able to delete videos from the App Events screen (see the Bottom Right of my screenshot for the Trash Can icon). I am still using App version 2.50 so new App versions may look different.
Outside through a brick wall is likely the cause of your signal issues. The only path in that case is through a window, if the closest window is upstairs, then it has a really poor/unreliable signal path. Even a typical small basement window will yield pretty bad results.
Are you able to move your router somewhere that gives a better signal path to the cam?
I will say one of my Panv3s that is right on the fringe of usable signal, when it gets really cold out, does disconnect from time to time. Rarely does it when it is normal temps. Of course cold air is more dense, which very slightly impacts wifi signals, so it could just be that too, and not the fact that the cam itself is cold. But a cold antenna doesn’t function the same as a warm one, so probably a combination of factors.
But in reality, your main issue is the brick. Get a better signal to the cam and it will likely not care about the cold. My other Panv3 is closer, and in the same temperatures never disconnects.
The router can’t be moved without extended the ISP cable. It gets worse too in the cold. I’m assuming it’s all that. I don’t think it’s the unit itself.
In App 2.50, I can delete multiple Event videos by clicking the “Pencil” icon in the upper right, select the videos then click Delete at the bottom right.
Maybe @Antonius can show if it can be done in the newer App version.
As much as I hate wifi extenders, this might be a case where a cheap one could work wonders, you could give it a unique SSID/network name and assign only the affected cam to it so it doesn’t interfere with your indoor devices. Putting it on the 1st floor (assuming there is less brick or more windows) might do the trick. Maybe even 2nd floor if you have one, though I’d worry about signal strength back to the main router at that point.
