If it is under warranty replace it. If it is out of warranty you may try asking support to replace. Good luck

My opinion is they had a manufacturing defect early on. I was an early adopter, about a year +. I was so impressed by my first unit I ordered 2 more. It took a total of 5 units to get 3 that did not make the “gear noise” in one direction. I think I documented this on the forum a year ago (old memory).

What was interesting is you could only hear the noise if the environment was dead quiet. Under normal ambient levels you would not hear it. My belief at the time was if I hear it now would it last a year.

Somewhat good news. All 3 have been panning and scanning for over a year. I do not hear any gear noise.

If it’s like mine it has a internal defect and needs replacing.

and how do we get to a QA Support as the AI just thinks it’s clicking and no way out -

You call the Wyze Support number.

If it’s under warranty it should be painless. I recently had an early failure. Support answered on the 3rd or 4th ring. I was in the queue no longer than 5 minutes. The agent was polite, listened to my story. Asked if a replacement was OK which I agreed to. All took less than 15 minutes. What surprised me most is Support is using Amazon delivery. Wyze typically gives you the 3-7 (?) business day blurb. Amazon delivered it in 2 days.

All in all a good experience. I am sometimes surprised when I read support horror stories in this forum. As this has been my only contact with support in 6+ years I don’t know if this was typical. YMMV.

If your out of warranty then plead your case. If this was a defect they may offer you some compensation.

Good luck

Unlike @ronl4625, I haven’t actually tried the phone route. I like e-mail tickets so I don’t have to wait on hold and can answer at my own convenience. Even then, though, you first have to visit the Help Center to tell the AI chatbot create ticket a couple of times (I had to do it twice the last time I wanted to create a ticket, anyway), and then the ticket submission form doesn’t give you much space to describe an issue, so with that I usually just give a one-line summary and an associated Log ID (if I have one that’s relevant). Their ticketing system should then e-mail you a notice that a ticket has been created, and that’s usually followed pretty quickly by another bot response (“Wyze-E”). After the message from the bot, I reply to that e-mail with a detailed description of my problem and any troubleshooting I’ve already attempted. After that, a human agent should respond.

Welcome to the Forum, @PS56k & @bill242!

didn’t follow thru - just returned to Amazon - and bought another Pan - which works fine.

I should start marking the activation dates on the cam bottom -
to see how long they last.

Just lost another cam - totally non functional -
bought V4 as a replacement
