The Pan Cam V4 calibration doesn’t reset the lens looking into the straight forward starting position, it has droop, pointing down at an angle which I estimate at 15 degrees. I have recalibrated and reset and recalibrated numerous times but it consistently points down at the same angle [Mod Edit]. Is there a remedy [Mod Edit]?
Recalibrating the cam does not center it, it puts it back in the last position you had it. If you set it looking straight forward, then do the calibration or reboot, it should go back to being straight forward.
Why would recalibration put the camera in a position other than a universal starting position instead of an offset one? The camera’s calibrated position should be as it was when it came out of the box, looking straight ahead.
You’re confusing recalibration with factory reset. Recalibration just ensures it is exactly on the spot you set it at (it can drift a bit over time, the recalibration corrects that). It recalibrates every time it reboots and puts itself on the last spot you set it to. You can also kick off a manual recalibration in the app which does the same thing.
People would not be happy if they had to reset the cam’s position any time it restarted or lost power for any reason.
If you need that, I would recommend setting a waypoint at that position so you can easily put it there anytime you want. You can add your request to the wishlist forum as well.
