My V3 wont track or record events unless I unplug and replug. Then works for a day then quits again. Gone over all the settings, Record, motion tracking, Rules, Detection off, signal strong . Door cam works great, Hope some company comes up with a competitive product that works more reliable.
[Mod Edit]Cleaned up topic tags to correctly show device used.
This has been a recurring topic with the PanV3. It appears they are continually working on improving this as it has been a mention in each of the last two firmware updates.
One workaround remedy I and other users have found is to plug the cam into a Smart Plug and then program a schedule on the plug to turn off once a day, remain off for over 30s, and then turn back on.
This daily power cycle seems to refresh the RAM and keep the cam running. It also suggests that there may be a memory leak issue in the firmware.
Thanks for suggestion. We hooked it up to Smart plug, had it turn off for 10 minutes then on again at midnight. Events say that it worked for 1 hr. then quit. Good wifi signal, boosted by Echo Dot. Not sure what to try next, or just accept it is not a good product .
Ron
How are you confirming that it is going offline by “events say that it worked for 1hr”?
I am not familiar w\ the Echo Dot network setup or how it handles IoT in the 2.4Ghz band. Have you set it up so that it connects directly to the WiFi router and tested it over time to see if it is disconnecting from that network? Not seeing events isn’t a clear indication of offline status. This has to be verified by opening the cam in the app.
Good questions. I confirm that it is not active because when it is functioning at night, it is continuously showing moths and other insects. To have it stop all recording exactly at 1:00 a.m. is questionable. Echo Dot is an Amazon/ EEros (Alexa) that also acts as a signal booster. Eeros operates on 2.4 and 5G. The garage where the V3 is, is about 50ft away from the house. Today I do not have an issue with it being live, and it did record and track some motion, but some events only recorded a static picture, and some were “failed to load to the cloud”. I very much appreciate your suggestions.
Ron
Make sure that you don’t have any Rules setup that would affect the Event Recording on a schedule.
The failure to upload indicates that an event was initiated but the cam lost connectivity with the server during that upload. This leads me to believe that the cams are having some issues on your network. Unfortunately, every Mesh Network Router brand treats iOT devices differently. There have been many discussions about this. I use the Wyze Mesh Router Pro network, so I don’t have to do much configuration to keep my cams online.
Same here. Had many chats trying to resolve issues without success. Since they couldn’t fix it, they said congratulations we are giving you a gift card instead. I have not used it because why would I get another piece of equipment that is so unreliable. I am still questioning why I signed up for cam plus. I suppose I hoped it would solve my problems. Getting good exercise though, climbing up the ladder to do resets.
If you are having issues with cams going offline continuously, you might get better results from a router upgrade. Alternatively, smart plugs are great for power cycling remotely.
On a previous conversation you suggested that and we installed one. Set it to shut down at 12.01 am and back up at 12.10. Works great most of time. We sometimes have to recycle it remotely via alexa when the timer off does not work. Good suggestion, and we thank you. We have the latest router, and it is also extended by eero units. We have a good signal strength at unit. When it fails, I have to climb the ladder and push the reset button, then the QR read (perched on the ladder) and then we are operational again. It also only tracks about half the time, just takes a picture. I have Wyze doorbell camera and it has worked perfect since the day we installed it. Pardon my wanking on. Your suggestions are appreciated. Ron
Disregard the title of garage 5g. The whole system operates on 5g/2.4
Having the “latest router” or the strongest signal, widest reach, fastest speed, or the highest device load capacity, aren’t the measure of how well your router is managing your network. That is done specifically by the network management protocol coding in the router firmware. Even the “best” routers can be relentlessly stingy with IoT devices and mismanage competing devices.
This should never be necessary. With the Smart plug attached, Al that you should have to do is turn the plug off, wait 30s, then turn it back on. It should reestablish connectivity.
Sounds like a Pan Cam that may not be getting enough power if it is loosing connectivity and not tracking. Are you using the cord and 2A Power Adapter that came with it or a longer extension and different Power Adapter?

You mentioned Tracking before so it led me to believe it was a Pan Cam. If this is a Pan Cam, it isn’t enough power. Others have posted about power issues when trying to use the Wyze Bulb Adapter.
The Wyze Light Bulb Adapter is designed for a V3 Cam, which requires half the current of a Pan Cam at 1A. The Pan Cam requires 2A. If there isn’t enough power when the motors turn, all sorts of failures happen. Power that cam in the same position it is in with the cord it came with and a 2A or better 5V Power Adapter and test if you get better results.
The one that came with the cam should be a 2 Amp (2000mA). The ones that come with other cams are 1 Amp (1000mA). You have to read the fine print. Wyze does sell the 2A Power Adapter. Linked below.
If you don’t have the one that came with it, you can use a universal USB A power adapter like on from a mobile phone, so long as it is 2000mA or more. You can pick these up at just about any box store or convenience store. I just ordered a half dozen 20W dual USB A\USB C QC\PD 3 Amp Power Adapters from Amazon to have as replacement spares.
I now realize that I tried the Wyze lamp socket, and gave up in favour of using a standard lamp socket, that I plugged the power adapter in that came with the unit. At present, the unit is offline, pointing straight down error code 90. I have recycled it on / off several times with no joy. Will get the ladder out and do a hard reset yet again. Pic is from yesterday. Pardon the cobwebs. Ron

Wyze offers smart home cameras and devices packed with features at a price that is accessible for all. Wyze Cam includes 1080p full HD video, smart motion and sound alerts at a revolutionary price.
While up there, I would bring the cam down to bench test it before doing a factory reset and new setup. Place it close to the router and see if it makes a difference and run it for a bit. Test the power adapter to make sure it is providing enough power and test it with a known good one. That power adapter is not outdoor rated, so you may have some issues with it. Even under an eave, they will retain water from humidity and rain.
Hello again. Well I tried a different power supply (5V, 2000 ma). Had to do a hard reset again. Worked 1 day, then quit the next. It does work when I bring it in the house, but that is not where I need it to be. I think you are correct that my problems may simply be it is not for outdoor use. I am going to give up at this point, and buy a product designed for outdoor use, and rated for 5g or 2.4g. I must thank you again for sticking with me to help resolve the problem. Perhaps Wzve will get it together one day.
best regards,
Ron, Havelock, Ontario Canada
This indicates it is loosing WiFi signal w\the router when outside. Most likely due to a weak signal or intereference from another device.
The cam is outdoor rated. The power supply is not. Wyze makes an Outdoor Power Adapter specifically for outdoor use.
I have four of these in use outdoors under eaves mounted in much the same way as you. However I am running a 3 node Mesh Network with very strong signal integrity and nodes positioned nearby. I have yet to have one drop offline due to a weak signal.
