I have 2 wired doorbells and 3 Pan cam v3’s and they have worked well since they were each respectively installed. The oldest V3 was purchased in 10/2023, the 2nd in 12/2023, then the last was in 1/2024. It took some time initially to get detections setting right and occasionally I have to tweak them a tad, but for the most part, they’ve been set and working well for the better part of the last year. I only use motion detection and pan and scan. Rarely do i use motion tracking, as it constantly gets fooled by any and everything that moves, from shadows, to leaves, you name it. So again, for the better part of the last year+ I was able to set reasonable motion sensing settings, in the 40 to 50% range with the occasional errant notification, but for the most part, they were pretty reliable and few fals notifications. Starting a couple months back, this changed dramatically on one of the cams. CONSTANT notifications! I tried EVERYTHING, even setting the sensitivity to 1, and still was getting notifications every 3-5 minutes and when i check, there’s nothing there to trigger it. After a week of more of trying to work it out thru settings, I gave up and turned off notifications, giving up the BIGGEST feature in my opinion that these cameras offer. Fast forward a couple more months and now a second camera has begun doing the same thing. Nothing fixes it, no reset to factory defaults, no restarts, nothing except turning off notifications. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time now before the 3rd cam starts the same issues, based on how close together the first two started. Hoping Support, or SOMEONE else out there has some solutions for me. I was pretty pleased with these Wyze products for their low price point until now. Is this a “you get what you pay for” deal and only a year is to be expected? Disappointed currently, as I have bought into the ecosystem and had plans to do more so, I even have cams at my parent’s house as well, but if these issues can’t be resolved it may be time to look into another options, sadly. TIA to anyone that might be able to provide assistance or guidance!
Maybe try a factory reset and re-do your detection zone, sensitivity, etc? Doesn’t seem like it would be something in hardware causing that. I’ve had my Panv3s for about 1.5 years and nothing has changed with their detection.
I was under the impression that even with just pan/scan and not track motion that the detection zone didn’t apply and they were prone to more false alerts, but maybe that isn’t the case, sounds like you had it working well with pan/scan? Pretty much any time it isn’t in its “home” position where you set the DZ, it doesn’t apply.
