I’m on my second Pan Cam V3 as the first one wouldn’t go left or right just up and down. Made a clicking noise. I got a replacement under warranty and now the same thing is happening to the replacement. So I’m unable to do the panoramic scan of my backyard which is very important as I have a pool back there and don’t want anyone just jumping in. Also my Pan Cam V3 in the front of my house is very clickety if that’s even a word. No smooth transitions from left to right. Also takes forever to connect even though I’ve upgraded my WiFi to the Deco System by TP Link.
I have two pan v3s and neither has had any problem with the motors at the 1 year mark, and they’re constantly moving around tracking motion. Are yours exposed to a lot of dust or maybe water? Are they mounted right side up or upside down?
The one I had upside down, even though it was under an eave, got water in it during a windy rainstorm. The camera stopped responding and I replaced it with one right side up. After drying the old camera in a bag of rice, it does work again, but it does have a couple audible clicks when it moves (the motion is smooth though). I’m assuming the water rinsed a bit of dirt into the gears.
Both of them are under eaves and the camera is on the bottom and motor up top. Lately it’s just been very hot when the last one stopped moving left or right. Even though we got a bunch of rain both of them started doing this before any rain happened.
Unfortunately the inverted (motor on top) cameras seem to have a short lifespan. From my experience, even if protected under an eave, stuff can get in around the rotating disc at the base when mounted that way. Plenty of other complaints about upside down Pan v3s too around the forums too. Mine are both in direct sunlight and we had record heat for like 2 weeks, no issues.
Thank you, might get another then mount it with motor down
