Package detection alerts when not enabled

I have a Wyze Cam Pan v3 on the latest firmware (verified June 8, 2024 at 2:12ET) for which I am getting a string of package detection notifications. In Settings for this camera, Package detection is turned off in Event Recording and Notifications.

It just keeps doing it every 2-3 minutes. I’ve already rebooted the camera and uninstalled/reinstalled the app.

What gives?

Edit: Now another Cam Pan v3 is doing the same thing. Package Event recording and package notifications on that camera are also not enabled.

Even if I turn off all notifications with the button at the top of the notifications settings screen, package notification are still coming through every couple minutes. The only way to stop them is to turn off the camera (Privacy mode).

What the heck? Something must be dorked up in the cloud.

What is your app version number? Go to Account tab → About → and then it is the version number at the top. (please post the full number including the part in parenthesis)

If this were happening to me, The first sequence of actions I would do is I would clear the cache from the app (Account tab → App settings → Clear Cache), then I would go into the camera settings and click on the “Reset service” button at the bottom. Then I would go into the detection settings and notification settings and toggle package detection back on, then back off again.

Then I would see if that resolves it by purposely setting off motion events again and see if it still labels events as package events.

2.50.7 (487). It’s the same version as was most current in the Google Play store as of yesterday when I posted.

I’ve already uninstalled/reinstalled the app, My understanding is that when you uninstall an app it’s cache is gone. Nevertheless clearing the cash makes no difference.

I’ve repeatedly tried toggling on/off event recording and notifications for packages, as well as for everything.

No changes in the app or firmware on the cameras prior to this starting to happen.

It has to be a cloud issue, not a camera issue, since both cameras started doing this on the same day. I’ll just leave these cameras off until it gets fixed in the cloud. Nothing else I can do on my end.

Support is useless, as they just read scripts and don’t demonstrate any understanding of what I’m trying to tell them.

p.s. What does reset service do exactly? Will it wipe anything out like settings, rules, or shortcuts, etc? I’m wary of clicking something if I don’t understand what it does.

No, I’ve used it a couple of times.

Okay, Thanks.

We’ll see what happens.

Welp, both cameras are still doing it, albeit at a significantly reduced rate from yesterday. Maybe once every half hour for each camera.

This has got to be a foul-up in the cloud.

My V3 Pro went nuts the other day with package. The difference was that FedEx left a Package by the by the front door and I didn’t go out and pick it up for more than 30 min. so the cam kept telling me package.
