Oz with telephoto

I just hooked up a og cam with telephoto I bought at Christmas, It sucks. Can’t zoom out so it’s useless unless you can point it a mile away..

It has unique usability, obviously not for everyone.

Yes. I had to return mine. Too bad you cannot dial it down a bit.

It’s a fixed 3x telephoto. What were you expecting?

I have several of them and they work very well for me.

What happened when you did this?

I’ve been curious about your experience with adding a Close-up Lens to that.

I still really like having a Cam OG Telephoto aimed at my driveway through a window.

I’ve been so busy that I have not had time to do much with the closeup lenses that I received. The only one I have tested is on a V4 camera (overkill for the purpose, but it was handy)… I am watching a battery charger. The camera originally was about 8 inches from the charger and the image was quite a bit out of focus. With the closeup lens, the camera is now about 4 inches from the charger and pretty clear. The depth of field is very narrow. One of these days I will do more testing…
BTW, I’m watching the charger because every once in a while it decides not to charge. I get a low voltage alarm on the UPS battery that it is charging, and can power cycle it remotely (via a Wyze outdoor outlet), and watch the charger go through it’s startup.

Where does it say it has an adjustable zoom? It is a fixed 3x telephoto lens as advertised.

Mine comes in very handy, and not for a mile away, it works well at about 50 feet to be able to pick up license plates and much clearer faces than the standard cams at that distance. Depending on the angle, mounting height, and how wide of a field of view you want to see, it could be used for anything approximately 30 to 100 feet away based on my experience (it can see beyond 100 feet, much better than the standard cams, but obviously detail starts to get lost).

I just figured I could zoom in 3 x not start at 3 x. It’s ok if my yard was couple hundred yards long. I’m in an apt. Only about 50 ft to my car

Does not require long distance. Depends on what you are trying to view. My shortest one is less than 4 feet - and I would be using a OG-Tele at well under that if it would focus that close (have not tried the add on close up lens on a OG-Tele yet). This photo is from a little under 4 feet. That’s about the minimum focus distance (and you can see it’s not perfect that close). Also note that the camera got bumped and is not pointing where it’s supposed to be - should be a bit to the right in order to see the right side amp meter…

From my experience, 50 feet is a good distance to see faces and what they’re doing. A standard OG (or any of these cams) wouldn’t give you as good of a view. But obviously depends on your specific scenario.
