Outdoor/Weatherproof Wyze Cam

I will guarantee you they will not be a PTZ option.

What’s the chances it can be solar charged?

From Wyze I’m guessing zero. But people have done work arounds for v2s so I think you’ll have to wait until they finally announce something. They were slick during the ask me anything. I believe it was Dave who said the WCO would be the next product released. But that could be May or September. It’s still the next product released. They are slick. You have to give them that. They never give much info. We know that 4 WCO cams go with a hub. But do you buy 4 WCO cams and hub aa a combo? Do you buy WCO cams individually and then it tells you how many hubs to buy? So many questions and they won’t answer. What they fail to see is people are tired of waiting 2 yrs and are moving on. If they gave a little info to keep us on the hook it would help. As it is the fish are spitting out the hook and looking at other bait.

So here’s the question for those of you that are really wanting the WCO. If the battery is self-contained inside the unit and not removable and you have to take it down to charge it every time and then put it back up and refocus it back to where you want it are you going to be happy with that?

Would you rather have a battery that you can just take off and put another battery on it say like a proprietary battery. Yes you would have to have multiple batteries but you wouldn’t have to take the camera down every time. Similar to Arlo.

Just curious. I tried to make a poll but I was unable to figure out how to do it. LOL

And by the way I’m very interested in the WCO myself. I’m just wondering which route they went. Although I believe I already know which route they went. Having it self-contained would be cheaper. But selling batteries would be another revenue stream. We all know that Wyze look for the cheapest way to go so I’m thinking it’s going to be self-contained. That is just my opinion I am not speaking on Wyze’s behalf in anyway

If, (and it’s a big if since we don’t know the specs yet), the camera uses a standard micro USB 5vdc input then there are solar panels/chargers made for other cameras and USB devices that should work fine to charge the internal battery on the camera. There are even some with there own built in batteries. I’ve done several DIY solar lighting projects and would certainly give it a try, but until we get the specs, it’s all a guess right now.

Here’s an example of a solar camera charger with built in battery and micro USB:

2 years is way too long, making it only work through a hub isn’t a direction I’m willing to go. I just wanted an outdoor camera. 18650 or 21700 capable or both which is easy to do with a silicone sleeve that Aspire Dynamo has perfected and I’ve used for two years without fail in a product. I didn’t even mind a no battery option and prefer straight power connection.

I came from owning Yi cameras, they had it down perfect with an outdoor camera and domes and I left them for their App which is now full of ads instead of interface. In comparison the Wyze App is slick and clean and the V2 for outdoor use works well. I fail to see how just making an outdoor weatherproof new house for a V2 was skipped. 2 years to produce an outdoor camera and I’m not sure anymore I’m still in the game ( Virus or not )

one more note, as I’ve read thousands it seems of posts not just here but on other forums, and loss of pairing to sensors and bridges… pops up a lot in many concerning posts…how does Wyze think that having a hub that limits use to 4 cameras is a direction buyers will take when the majority of threads/posts are about rules broken, sensors offline, loss of pairing, batteries died early and then continue to push after 2 years an outdoor camera that requires a hub or bridge when there’s been so many issues for many.

Waiting for almost 2 years. 1500+ posts about it and what?. How hard can it be to just have originally redesign a V2 into a outdoor enclosure 2 years ago while working on whatever may come out now over 2 years later?.
Yes, the latest virus issue is acknowledged but now we hear September?..Really?.

Where did you hear September, no date has been given. All that has been said is that it will be the next product released.

Where did you hear September??? The last thing Wyze has said about the release of the Outdoor Cam is it will be the next product they release.

Wyze has decided not to just make a case for their existing V2 but to actually make a brand new camera. This leading to a longer wait time for the release.

They said it would be the next release. With Wyze that could be May that could be September. They wouldn’t give any clear indication. So next release can mean anything.

Yes a brand new camera that we have no idea what the specs are all on it and it’s taking them two years to make. Now think about this they had an indoor camera that worked just fine all they had to do was add PIR and a battery if they wanted to add a battery and they did. Which from all my internet investigations I’ve done it’s an enclosed battery so you’re going to have to take the camera down and charge it. Then put it back up and get it cited back in exactly where you want it. Instead of making a proprietary battery or taking a battery from another company and being able to replace the batteries while the camera is mounted ie Arlo. If they would’ve done this it would’ve made it easier on the company and it would’ve given them another revenue stream because people probably would’ve bought two batteries per camera so if they had a back up just go out and swap them out. So we don’t even know if this new camera is going to be worth it. It could’ve been two years of wasted time. We’re starting to see that they don’t listen to the customers because when you look at the waitlist it’s just a way to try to keep us happy and keep us voting while they develop and build whatever they want prime example of the scale.

Agreed, I asked this question hoping Wyze would respond, so far no response from them, just us loyal ole folk who want to purchase their products, What a way to do PR.

They will not say when it is released for good reason, they really want to get it right. People have spoken out that EA items are not ready, this is a highly anticipated product and they learned already once when they gave a date and were unable to come through, for that reason they will not set a date until they feel it is ready. Why come out and say a date only to possibly miss it. Why rush it to market and face a backlash of ‘you had 2 years and it still does not work’. That is a really good reason to not give a date.

Wyze you’re slower than sloth lol. At least respond to people questions and give them updates

Exactly you made my point so it could be September or it could even be December. But it could still be the next product released right? So they’re pretty slick they know how to word it

What do you want Wyze to tell you?
The camera is in testing. When it’s ready it will be released.
They already gave a release date of “By the end of 2019” and couldn’t meet it. They aren’t going to make that mistake sgain.

OK then give us this information. 4 cameras to hub correct? Do we buy a package where we get four cameras and a hub? Or do we buy as many cameras as we want and then a pop-up tells us how many hubs we need? I mean they’re not giving out any information and it’s been two years and to say it’s the next item to be released doesn’t mean anything. It could be released next year if they fall behind. If they don’t give some kind of date more people are going to other brands which some already have. And if they’ve gone through this much testing and we buy at early access and it still has several issues it just proves that Wyze has no idea how to alpha test anything. And in this case I would say that they are actually beta testing it. Were in other cases they don’t beta test anything. Early access has been beta testing for all the other products.
